We're a bit Disney obsessed at my house.
Our pre-honeymoon was in Disney World.
We listen to Disney music at home every morning.
I walked down the aisle at our wedding to a Disney song.
We secretly think our daughter will look like Moana when she's older.
We like Disney.
So while our daughter slept soundly, my hubby and I watched a Disney movie together a couple nights ago called Inside Out.
The movie created characters out of the different emotions we experience and these characters lived inside the head of a little girl.
You've probably heard me say that the sentences you think in your head (your thoughts!) create your feelings - well this movie teaches exactly what I coach my clients on every single day.
All of these feelings (joy, anger, disgust, fear, sadness) had their own "personalities" and ways of speaking that reflected the emotion they embodied. .
Sadness said things like,
"Crying helps me slow down and obsess over the weight of life's problems"
"We could cry until we can't breathe," "I'm too sad to walk." .
Fear said things like,
"All right, we did not die today!"
"Did you see that face? They're judging us!" .
Joy said things like,
"You can't focus on what's going wrong."
"There's always a way to turn things around, to find the fun!" .
The emotion with the LOUDEST, most frequent thoughts was the emotion that the girl experienced.
This is exactly what happens to us. Notice when you're feeling stressed out, your thoughts are likely from fear. When you are excited, your thoughts are likely from joy.
Our thoughts create our feelings. Which voice are you going to intentionally choose to listen to? (This is a Disney movie you gotta watch!) Your Coach,
PS: I help clients create and implement the thoughts they want to think on purpose. So many women aren't aware that the sentences in our mind are a CHOICE. When you have the power to choose the thoughts you think, you have the ability to change the way you feel.
This is my speciality and I'd love to work with you on this. Let's schedule a call to talk about coaching! Hit reply, and we'll talk soon :)
