The gym is my escape! 🔥💫 . So for me the gym is more than a place where I go to just lift weights it is literally my escape for when I’m stressed! . We all have stuff going on in our lives that causes us to be stressed, myself included as I put a lot of pressure on myself. . When I’m in the gym it allows me to forget about everything else, my only focus for the next hour is getting my workout done! This always helps me reduce my stress levels as you are releasing endorphins a hormone which makes you feel psychologically better. Along with that you feel better in yourself because you have achieved something by having a good workout. It allows you to clear your head so that you can refocus. . If you are stressed that is because you are avoiding a problem that needs to be resolved and it can hard to do that when your not in the right headspace but a simple workout can give you a lot of clarity. . It may sound silly but the gym is what allows me to keep pushing in my career even though they aren’t related all the same principles still apply; discipline, focus and the willingness to keep pushing forward when times are hard. . Also guys social media can be amazing or a bitter place just like the world itself but that is only dictated by the people in it, so always be kind to every one you meet as you never know the struggles in their life right now and a simple act of kindness get brighten their day!

SWITCH IT UP 🕺🙌 . It’s normal to get stuck in the same workout and diet routine and habitually do the same thing time after time . But seriously don’t be afraid to make a few changes to your routine and diet to continue further progress and continue staying motivated and on track with your fitness goals 🔥💪 . . Here are just a few changes I’ve made personally in the last few months and have seen incredible results 😛 . . ✅ Biggest change was training mornings instead of nights. Took a while to get use to but it helps give me more time in the day after work to focus on other areas of my life. . . ✅ definitely worth checking out but started incorporating double progression method in my training. Not going to explain what it is but has Definetely helped me progress in certain lifts I stopped progressing on. . . ✅ Specific body part training; recently started working on what I believed were weak points being my back and chest so being using a program that prioritises back and chest training through higher volumes/frequency. Trade off means less direct arm work 😭 . . ✅ Not gym related but bought a pair of inline skates which I try to do once a week to help burn calories in an enjoyable way on my days off. . . ✅ Nutritional wise, swapped out Carb sources such as bread and rice in favour of pasta and potatoes. No science here but it helped meal preps taste enjoyable again and made me feel more full. . . And just like that, Operation Amis Family gym lab rat program is done! Tonight @chuwasheree and I did a little mock meet and tested new maxes. At the beginning, Chu started out with 245/125/250. Tonight he mangled 280/175/300. In training, he bested that squat at 295, and it just wasn’t in the cards tonight. Still absolutely stoked for his 755 total. I started out with bests of 500/275/500 and tonight got 525/315/525. In training I doubled 525 in the squat and mangled 545 deadlift but I think fatigue from an exceptionally busy shift just caused me to not have it. First session in 5 days for me... say what!? Mind you I did hit between 20000-250000 steps each day over the weekend through the mud (way worse than sand) 😅 Sometimes life gets busy and the gym is not an option for a single mumma (or anyone for that matter) Was I stressed about it? Not one bit 🙌🏽 I know I haven’t been training 6 days, heck not even 5 days consistently but when I do train it’s with content and I put in that work. I feel stronger than ever and my energy levels are high. I know this would have really played with my mind not that long ago, but I have finally realised how important it is for recovery and to listen to your body when it’s trying to tell you something! And my body is telling me that I’m getting old haha (38 on Sunday!!!) so I need more recovery time! Don’t be that person in the gym that puts their ego (weight that’s too heavy) on the bar and then performs the ugliest reps known to man just to get the video for Insta. - Perfecting the movement pattern despite using a weight you may consider low won’t ruin your reputation. Perfecting the movement pattern will allow you to push more weight in the correct way later down the track. - The gym and the exercises in it don’t care for your ego. meal prep. my favorite thing to do? No. But nevertheless it’s so important for me staying on track and in the end saves me a lot of time. A standard lunch meal prep for me is veg, 3-5 oz of lean meat and a carb like brown rice or potatoes. This alone isn’t enough food for me though, so I also have a fruit, raw veggies and avocado or cheese along side these. I also meal prep my breakfasts but we’ll talk about that later ((; prepping meals isn’t the most riveting thing but helps me so much. My style of meal prep is very bland and some may say boring and monotonous, but it works for me. Everything works but nothing works forever.⁣ That expression at the end tho 😂😂😂. ⁣ Triceps are one my most overdeveloped muscle groups, but as you can see here, I am as weak as a kitten because this is a tricep exercise (𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴-𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬) is something I have almost never done.⁣ Just look at the pin on the stack – it's on the lightest weight LOL. ⁣ On the regular cable pushdown, I can do reps with the full stack with the pin on the lowest plate. But all I did is switch up the exercise and the angle and I was so weak.⁣ ⁣ Always challenge yourself to do different things. Your favorite exercise is something you should probably cut back on because chances are you do it ALL THE TIME.⁣ ⁣ Instead, put yourself in weaker positions and get stronger there 💪🏼.⁣ ⁣ Hope this helps🙏. hi my names Sophie I’m 18 years old & my body has been to hell and back in those 18 yrs —- 2010 // 9 yrs old and had really bad eating habits and a slow metabolism. ate my feelings and was fat & bullied for it (~150 lbs) —- 2014 // 13 years old. Nearly 200 lbs. terrible eating habits. Nearly sedentary and struggled w binge eating and a bad relationship with food —— 2015 // starting to lose weight in a relatively healthy way and felt good (175 lbs w/ no muscle) —- 2016 // continued to lose weight but became more restrictive and obsessive w calories. Started to run XC (~160lbs) —- 2017 // at the peak of my anorexia. eating next to nothing. Obsessive w exercise and calories. Consumed my brain and my life. Was killing me. I wanted to die and was suffering. My anorexia held me strong. To some I looked healthy but was obsessive, hurting myself and losing weight too fast. (~125 lbs at lowest @ 5’8) —- 2018/2019 // was in the depth of my ED recovery and started to get into lifting and trying to mange my thoughts and relationship w food. Was long and hard but so much growth happened. (150-160 lbs) —- 2020 // I’ve found balance w food and exercise. I eat the cleanest and the most i ever have. I eat and live freely. I’m the strongest and healthiest I’ve ever been. I love my body and my loose skin and stretch marks. I’ve accepted the implications of my ED and have been trying to overcome them. My body has been to every extreme and back. My body is strong and powerful. Food is fuel not the enemy. Exercise and strength is amazing. Life is worth living. My body is worth saving and preserving. These 18 years have been long and hard and I’ve been through so much. But I’m doing so good and am so strong and couldn’t be happier. My body is capable. I am beautiful and strong. And that’s what I’ve learned and been through these 18 years.
