Happy post Super Bowl Monday!
I normally don’t watch football, not even the #superbowl . I don’t dislike it, I just have other things to do. But I had it on the TV while I was working last night and it got me thinking about #winning .
The things that #separate #champions from the #average is a long list, but that long list can be narrowed down to one specific characteristic. Champions do the #work , even, no, especially, when no one is watching
I don’t know jack about either team in the super bowl, to be honest. I don’t know the stats, the players, or the coaches. But what I can say is that the fact they are in the super bowl is no accident. And I’ll bet those guys celebrated last night, but the real champions are back in the #gym this morning, or stayed up late after the game to review footage of the game, or even in their own mind, reviewing their actions in the game and looking for ways to improve.
Winning is their #sport . The trophy and rings are awesome and represent winning, but its the winning that fuels them .
But winning doesn’t happen by doing the #statusquo , its going beyond what people think is possible or what should be done.
@edmylett always says, “one more”
To be the best, you have to put in the work, even when it hurts, when it’s cold, when you are tired… do one more rep, make one more phone call, send one more email, take one more meeting, read one more page… whatever it is, think @nike , #justdoit
#Mohamed Ali was once asked how many sit ups he did a day and he said he didn’t know, he only started counting when it started to hurt. You can bet that when he got to the end, he would push out one more
There will always be someone more talented than me, but NO ONE will #outwork me. There is #noexcuse for lack of hard work.
Work on making this a habit, use “one more” in your daily activities. Whether its one more thing in your todo before you leave, or one more client response, or bid. Or at home, do one more chore, or at the gym do one more rep, or 1 more minute, make sure you don’t just do the status quo, find ways to do “one more”. Be the champion that you know you can be! And lastly, hang with real champions.
