Cardio and fitness in isolation is super beneficial for mental health. Jump rope is such an enjoyable form of cardio that gives me so much energy and brightens my day. If you’ve never tried it before then I highly recommend it. Gotta keep going!! Do not listen to that inner critic that says home workouts are a waste of time! You are not turning into Jane Fonda. And, even if you were would that be such a bad thing? You have the hair for it!! . . Such is the inner monologue whenever I find myself getting down onto the floor to do some homeworkout variant of my usual kickass gym routine. But hey I am still doing it! . . Today was floor hyper extensions 3x15, bent over row (20kg) super set with rack/knee pulls (20kg) 3x 20, good mornings 3x15, single Dumbell row - plus several floor exercises that I have no names for but that looked good to me when surfing fitness Instagramers for inspiration. A sort of head and shoulder sit up for upper back 3x12 and a sort of lying lat Pulldown hyper extension thing 3x8 each side. . For 💪🏼 I did 21’s 15kg four sets, concentrated Dumbell curl 10kg 3x8 and 15kg barbell fast up slow down to failure (50 ish). Jobs a good un. 👏🏼 . . Keeping myself strong and healthy with my home workout program 💪 Today I did Biceps & Back LIIFT 50/50, so the first half of the workout was 6 lifting exercises (3 biceps & 3 back) followed by 3 sets of 3 HIIT exercises, and then finally core work 🙌 I was sweating like a good ‘un I’ll tell you! Getting up in the morning to do my workout and keeping my ‘normal’ routine going is really helping me to stay on track with everything. Moving from the wet side (in ski pants and full warm gear) to the dry side at work where I wear everyday clothes... the amount of comments I’ve gotten about my weight and what I’m eating is ridiculous. Telling someone they’ve lost weight is cool and we’re thankful you notice but there is so many rude ways to say it to someone. Don’t tell me to start sharing my food with my husband, don’t tell me 2 more months and I could fit between pallets, stop saying it in an aggressively rude way. Compliment and move on. I don’t have a “secret” that everyone seems to think I have... it’s hard work and trying your fricken hardest not to give up when you want to so damn bad.

On Tuesdays I do a back & biceps strength workout and a few Pilates moves at the end. I start with an active warm-up like jumping jacks or jump rope. I don't have much equipment at home: Dumbbells at 5 &12 lbs, a yoga block, foam roller and a set of resistance bands with handles. Since I don't have heavy weights, I do higher reps or slow down my moves to add more resistance. PSA: There will be days when you can’t lift as heavy, or run as far, or go as hard, and that’s 100% normal! . . . Today’s back/bicep workout had me struggling. My biceps felt so weak and tired from the get go. . . . But, it’s no big deal! Instead of lifting heavy, I lightened my weight and really focused on form! . . . Form is literally the most important thing when lifting, especially as you go for the heavier weights. Proper form prevents injury and maximizes results! . . . I was tossing around the idea of making videos to post in my highlights teaching proper form for the more common moves... Any ideas or requests?!

A 2015 systematic review and meta-analysis looked at both saturated and trans fats and the risk of all cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. 41 studies, with 67 data points and over 100,000 participants, were reviewed . . Saturated fat intake was not associated with all-cause mortality, CHD mortality, CVD mortality, total CHD, ischemic stroke, or type 2 diabetes . Unsurprisingly, trans fat intake was associated with most of these negative health outcomes (except for diabetes) . . Saturated fat, once vilified in the nutrition world, is a hot topic of debate among health experts.
