Creating your first budget doesnt need to be complicated. It can be super simple, and get more complex as you get more confident with your planning and organisation. See the last slide for breakdown of everything i had to account for in my budget. I also started my budget when i had a lot going on (besties wedding, christmas and some birthdays) which i forgot to account for and i definitely dipped into my savings at this time. 💳🏦 #mymoneyjourney #budget #myfirstbudget #debtfreecommunity #debtfree #sotm #shesonthemoney #itcanbesimple #simple #tbm #thebudgetmom #barefootinvestor

I signed a lease because we can’t leave. While I’ll still share everything that is Aussie based, internet is slow and unreliable here. Link in bio for ways Aussies can get cash quickly though! ($100 from ING, $5 from UP, $10 from Raiz, $10 from Swagbucks and more). Life all over the world is different to what we all expected for 2020. My girls and I have been through bushfires in January, flooding in February, the current worldwide issue and now a cyclone on the weekend here. But we are safe. We have income and I can provide for my girls and I so I’m grateful. No sickness here in Honiara and life is more normal here than elsewhere so we aren’t dealing with as much anxiety as most countries. What are you grateful for? We are already 6 days in! I can’t believe it! the last few weeks have been a whirlwind as I’m sure it has for everyone. . . . Things I’m grateful for- 🌱my family- so lucky to be able to FaceTime them and call and text them. 🌱having a job. I’ve got many family members that have been stood down as a result of COVID-19. I have been classed as an essential worker (and I got a very official letter to carry around from my boss incase I’m questioned by police 👮🏻‍♀️ eek that’s a bit extreme but apparently some other teachers have been pulled over to explain why they are out driving 😬). 🌱My husband is doing a great job watching our daughters (if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that he had a workplace accident that left him with a range of issues including a traumatic brain injury). 🌱I’m using my time at home to redo our laundry and focus on our veggie garden. Hopefully in the school holidays I’ll get to sorting through the garage and the shed. 🌱having a good emergency fund. Thank goodness for the #debtfreecommunity that has inspired me to get our finances in order. It’s been just over 2 years and I’m going to be forever grateful that we woke up got on the @daveramsey #babysteps and paid off our debt. 🌱my car getting fixed this week after getting hail damage in January- I’m so glad it wasn’t a write off. 🌱my wonderful colleagues keeping me sane when I have to be at work. I know how many people would love to be still able to go to work. 🌱to live in Australia 🇦🇺. I think I’m so lucky to live in a country with the healthcare and government benefits that support so many people. It’s not perfect but we are far luckier than a lot of other countries. . . . Practising gratitude can be hard on these times. And I’ll probably be frustrated by 10am due to the online training I’ve got to sit through today- but for the moment... it’s important to think about the good things on my life. ❤️

My last post about shares was back in February so I thought I would do a few little check-in posts. Currently, we are experiencing a massive downturn in shares prices due to the COVID-19 circumstances and the massive economic strain this is causing. . My @commsec Pocket shares are currently ~$244 in the negative while my other shares in the Commsec regular portfolio are down around $20. I am not looking at my share portfolio every day or even every week as I am in this for the long run. I know the market will recover and it is not the time to panic sell my shares. I AM putting on hold any transfers to my share account as I am looking to build my Emergency Fund instead. . Since my last post, I have purchased 150 Telstra shares (currently down) and I am happy to have this added to my portfolio. My @a2milkau shares are actually UP $1 per share since I've bought them. How are your shares going? Has your investment plan changed recently? . I'll post some shares that I'm looking at buying in the future soon. #notafinancialadvisor . . . . . . . . . . . . #projectbetteryou #shares #stocks #asx #stockmarket #covid19 #commsec #commsecpocket #investing #investment #investor #femaleinvestor #younginvestor #trading #barefootinvestor #daveramsey #dfc #debtfreecommunity #debtfree

Tomorrow’s YouTube video is all about savings rate.... what do you think the ideal savings rate is??? I know ours isn’t as high as some personal finance bloggers but I’m quite happy with it. I have two young boys and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. Today I had luncheon and relish wholemeal sandwiches and oj for a late breakfast. Soup for lunch, then wine (we’re in lockdown), then sizzlers and more soup for dinner. Not gonna lie, I had two more sizzlers later. For the past year I have used my little brothers Stan account. Last weekend I logged in and he had deactivated his membership 😭😭 I was half way through watching Mcleods daughters from the start! 😢 Look I’m a bit devastated, but not enough to start paying for the membership myself. I pay for Netflix anyway. And I can’t justify the cost for both! What it did make me think of was that I pay for Netflix and Spotify family, a cost of $25-30per month . And it’s used by 5 different people. There are a few free riders in my family! If it’s the same in your situation, have you asked for your family to share the costs? I’m a bit grumpy I pay for so many peoples benefit!

I’ve been caught in a whirlwind of comparison, because all the women I surround myself with actually enjoy cooking and/or baking. I cook for survival, out of necessity, and because I need something other than mashed potatopeascarrotcorn and snags. Today I wanted chocolate cake. Last weeks ago 😬 I bought bananas. And legit, I got sick of hearing myself say “I don’t like/enjoy cooking”, and wanted that filthy comparison devil off my darn shoulders. So today I baked.. and while I didn’t thoroughly enjoy the process, I thoroughly enjoyed the aftermath. I shall blog these 2 super simple recipes for you folk ‘ron. For now, I’m going have my cakes and eat them too. Oh, and just as an FYI, that chocolate cake? It’s made of kidney beans. Yep. Repost from @thekiwisaver using @RepostRegramApp - Yes! Such a good idea! I’m certainly giving my PJs a decent work out and I’ll have to declutter a few stained and ripped clothes I’ve realised really shouldn’t be holding onto. But after the lockdown, it’ll be a great time to go and look for second hand clothes, kitchen items, dog accessories and home items. You certainly will have had 4 weeks to really get to know what you need in your home and life after 4 weeks of doing nothing but living at home. Rather than focus on getting straight back into H&M or Kmart or Target, stop and ask if you really do need it? Can you delay gratification for a bit rather than rush back to the shops and ‘old life’. If you do need an item, try to hang onto as much money as you can and look to the #secondhandeconomy and #opshop and #thriftstorefinds to fill the needs. It normally supports a charity, reduces what you’re spending and also reduces waste by reusing an item. #daveramsey #babysteps #barefootinvestor #savingmoney #savemoney #moneysavingtips #money #finances #everydollarcounts #frugalliving #frugal #buildwealth #financialfreedom #financialindependence #FIREcommunity #millenialmoney #moneymatters #personalfinance #budget #budgeting #onabudget #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #debtfreenz #debtisdumb #debtsucks #livingonabudget

Savings was hit hard this month, if you've been keeping up with my latest posts you will realise. If you haven't it's not for the reason you would think. I am very fortunate as a healthcare worker to still be in a job. However due to being in the private sector our elective surgery cases have been cancelled (apart from a few) meaning we potentially won't have much work and I'll have to dig into annual leave, of which I don't have much and had saved for the wedding in July (although this is looking less likely as the days pass). That being said if the worst came to the worst I can rejoin the agency I was previously working for to work elsewhere. So my situation unlike a lot of others currently is pretty good. Savings: So our savings have reduced a significant amount, this is due to purchasing $1800 worth of shares and spending $2600 on the toys to resell. So although we have less savings at this point, in the long run we will be much better off with these investments. Emergency: We had to pay insurance excess which was a real disappointment as we had saved such a comfortable emergency fund. We are lucky enough to have had enough in there to cover this and have some left over. Car fund: We were hoping to switch over the payments of the emergency fund to the car fund so we could also use it for car repairs however unfortunately due to paying the excess on insurance this won't be possible for a while. Still it's increased by a small amount and will still be utilised for rego, and insurance in the future. Travel Fund: we have increased our travel fund by $400, it's looking more and more likely that we won't be going away in July and we aren't sure if we can get our money back for the flights which was around $3000. We didn't get insurance as I usually wait till closer to the date. Lesson learnt, in future I will definitely be booking insurance when I pay for my flights. At least if we can't go in July we may have money for a shorter trip for the wedding if they postpone it or somewhere else at a later date. Presents Fund: Still plodding along nicely with the presents fund. Not many birthdays in this period so it's building up nicely.

And finally my monthly comparison... I like to compare where I was this time last year, to see if I’m spending my money better. I know for sure I’m spending less on eating out or convenience food, and I hope next month it’s $0! I’m not surprised at all that groceries have gone up - and I’m okay with that. Bills is what it is 🤷‍♀️. Donations have almost tripled which makes me proud. Kmart spend a big fat $0 (🥳) and finally the house deposit keeps growing (though shrinking compared to last month). I would say that after 3 years of tracking spending I can confidently say I’m definitely a more conscious spender. I’m aware I’m going to have to track it at some point and face myself and ask “why did I buy that?” And also post it here. So if you’re wanting a way to start bringing your spending down I highly recommend setting a budget and tracking your spending: it will cost you nothing but will make you think twice before handing over your credit card. #daveramsey #babysteps #barefootinvestor #savingmoney #savemoney #moneysavingtips #makemoney #makingmoney #money #finances #everydollarcounts #frugalliving #frugal #buildwealth #financialfreedom #financialindependence #FIREcommunity #millenialmoney #moneymatters #personalfinance #budget #budgeting #onabudget #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #debtfreenz #livingonabudget #makeabudget #trackyourspending

Scott and I have both gotten new jobs with pay increases which start this month! 🧡💜 #teamscolody Scott secured a Financial Counselling role working 4 days a week and has doubled his hourly wage. 💰 Bonus: He gets salary sacrificing of $15,900 to reduce his tax and a fifth week of annual leave at full pay. 🏖 Downside: Increased commute time. 🚉 I started a new job in March which came with a $4k pay rise, but have just obtained another new job in my local area with a $5k pay rise, which makes $9k in total. 📈 Bonus: No more 3-hour commute each day. Salary sacrificing of $15,900 and $2,650 to reduce tax, a fifth week of annual leave at full pay AND 12 weeks of maternity leave at full pay if I decided to have another baby (which I totally won't, but a girl can dream). 👶 Downside: Now I have to drive the kids to school and daycare every morning 😣 Excited for my new role, but super triple excited for Scott starting his new career 🥰 Also our house starts building this month! They think it might be done by Christmas which would be amazing. We will be putting all of our payrises onto the mortgage and are aiming to have it paid off by end of 2030 🏡 #ozdebtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunity #daveramsay #barefootinvestor #firemovement #financialfreedom #ausdebtfreecommunity

Investments for March. #covid19 and the oil issues have hit me, like everyone, hard. At this time I’m just focusing on financials though. My two superannuation accounts and investments have all lost $1000s. But I’m in reliable paid employment and have plenty of time to see this through. So despite my extra $2000 invested, I have a portfolio worth less than last month. But I cannot stress how much I am definitely not going to sell and crystallize these losses. I still have a roof over my head and food in my cupboards so there are plenty worse off than me. On that note - there are so many charities who are in need of donations if you are fortunate like me to still have disposable income; @petrefugenz, food banks and any rescue are under much pressure at the moment so please remember generosity at this time. I had quite a few dividends that came through this month and they were 100% reinvested. Some were tiny figures like $0.80 but it is still exciting. How are your portfolios holding up? I’m not even certain I like the term #sidehustle for this...I just can’t think of a good word for “minimal effort things that help me out a little” 🤔. Anyway, side hustle will do for now! It has been an average month really, nothing too crazy. Due to #Covid19 @trademe_nz is basically on hold for a month so all my auctions have autoextended a month, so nothint will sell. But this is a great time to be #decluttering (at home!) and getting photos and blurbs sorted so you can get selling as soon as the ban is lifted. I also got a bit of interest but nothing to go nuts over...certainly not retirement level yet 😂. Hello friends, happy Sunday! Here’s a breakdown of how this weeks pay got sorted out. I’m very thankful to live at home and not be paying a tonne of money in rent + bills. Week to week, depending if I do an OT or take days off (don’t get paid for days off) this can vary. But for the most part I try to put $100 in each of my savings accounts but due to job losses in my household, I now need to contribute to utility bills and I put an extra $50 in my normal bills account instead of savings. I’m working from home now so I can save a fair amount of money (that would normally go in splurge and bills) so that can be shifted to other accounts from next week onwards 🙌🏻

Here we go! Ya girl has finished her first read for April. 🌿 . The Year of Less - by Cait Flanders. 🌿 . I’ll admit the title of this book had my full attention, when I first heard about it. 🌿 . A big thank you to @fashforward_au for msging me saying she was going to get rid of her copy, and asking whether I wanted it (as she was going to donate it).🌿 . For anyone new, one of my goals this year is to buy and consume less stuff. 🌿 . Basically I want to buy less shit. 🌿 . My other goal is using what I have. 🌿 . I’ve also decided to track all items I purchase from a retail store this year. 🌿 . Why? I want to be accountable and only purchase items I truly need. 🌿 . Another goal of mine is decluttering. 🌿 . I have listed a lot of things on FB Marketplace. 🌿 . That being said, I’m currently not selling anything on FB marketplace while Coronavirus is occurring. 🌿 . 🌿 Yesterday I did my first grocery shop for my new place (more about that soon). I spent $230 and bought plenty of meat, veg, staples, and other ‘set up’ bits and pieces. I was going to set a challenge of how long I could make it last, but I realised because I bought so many house things, I couldn’t really predict what would be a good time period. So instead I’m going to track what I eat, and how long it lasts me. And then the next shop I do, I’ll set myself a challenge of making my money last even further. P.S. I know sizzlers aren’t a proper food group, I just love them 🤣 Also, the chocolates, garlic bread, some of the fruit and soup ingredients are to drop off to my daughter and her partner, so this also throws the budget out a bit in terms of planning ✨ . . . #frugal #australia #newzealand #debt #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunityaustralia #debtfreecommunitynz #dfc #frugalliving #frugallife #frugality #debtfreejourney #debtfreedom #financialfreedom #finance #saving #investment #investinyourself #invest #minimalism #minimalist #fire #raiz #pureprofile #barefootinvestor #daveramsey #budget #budgeting #goals

Has anyone else ever made a payment to the wrong loan? Today we sent a large sum (we’re talking several thousand dollars in this case) to a loan that was paid off last year instead of the one we meant to. I went into immediate panic. I called the main customer service line and queried why it didn’t automatically reject considering it’s supposed to be a closed account and they couldn’t give me an an answer as they don’t have access to loan information. Our banks loan department isn’t open until Monday so I’ll follow it up then. The lady I spoke to today did say due to Covid-19 there’s massive wait times to reverse transactions etc - at least 14 days but they’re currently saying prepare for up to 21 days. Thankfully the money went from Westpac and into another closed Westpac loan so the process of getting it back shouldn’t be too hard but that was a panic I really didn’t want or need. I think I need a drink 🤣 #australiandebtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtfree #debtfreegoals #debtfreelife #debtfreeliving #debtfreedom #debtfreedreams #debtfreeaf #debtfreeaustralians #debtfreefuture #daveramsey #daveramseybabysteps #daveramseywouldbeproud #barefootinvestor #barefooting #minimalism #minimalist #cashenvelopes #cashenvelopesystem #budgeting #budget #thedebtfreecommunity #debtfreeaustralia #debtfreeisthenewsexy #debtfreeisthewaytobe #budgetliving #budgetlifestyle #budgethome

Hello everyone, I’m back! Today I’ve FINALLY managed to do a hack I saw on @making_ahouse_ahome instagram account...folding my bags for life into these cute triangles for easier storage! I’ve got LOADS so now some are in my glove box, in the side panel of my car door (I’ve got an awful habit of not taking my bags back to the car after using so preparing ahead!) and have a couple I’m my main handbags! I’ll be putting 10p into my #1000dollarproject pot for each bag I use - it all adds up! Got to her highlights for a step by step! #HappySaturdayAll 💕

Some positivity from all this. Since we aren't driving very much at the moment. I decide instead of just putting in the normal $50 a week I do. Great price so I. Excited to see how long this will last me. I got this at woolworths caltex, and used my everyday rewards card to get 4c off - $2.08. We are also getting free childcare soon so I'll have an extra $166 a month back in our pocket. We will be receiving an extra $750 from the government as well so that will all go into our emergency fund. How are you saving money in all this? #emergencyfunds #emergencyfund #COVID19 #savingmoney #freechildcare #stayathome #workingmum #stimuluspackage #stimulus #savingmoneylikeaboss #savingforahome #babystep3 #savingmoneyforawedding #savingsgoals #babysteps #daveramseybabysteps #barefootinvestor #fireextinguisher #savingforarainyday #chrishogan360 #debtfree #safteynet

Reading statistics like this makes me want to prepare myself. I have always aired on the side of caution and had six months of expenses in my savings account. Swipe for progress 😭😍🌿 . A few years ago Nick sent me the Barefoot investor book as a friendly “hey check out this great book”. As we’re both sole traders I think he was just trying to help me out/help put me on the right path. Well little did he know what this action did and, more importantly, what he was getting himself into 😂 It set a light a fire inside me. I’ve always wanted my own home and since then I’ve worked hard to get it, and harder to make it our own ❤️ I’m not saying any of this to brag, just reflecting on all of the saving, the planning, the hope in this little dump of a yard to start with, and the hard work. I think we’ll always appreciate this more than if we could afford to move into an already renovated house/yard. . Sorry for being crazy and all systems go go go, Nick, but it’s actually kinda your fault ❤️🌿 #HomeIsWhereTheDogIs #WorkHardNowSoYourDogHasTheYardHeDeserves #FirstHomeOwners #BarefootInvestor

Making yummy home cooked food to satisfy our tummies has definitely been the highlight of being isolated at home with the family. Pizza with yummy prosciutto, ham and salami, with our homegrown herbs, chilies and cherry tomatoes was a delight tonight! #pizza #homemade

Makeup rehab totals for March. I try to use up $1000 worth of product per year (or $1500 this year) and not buy any new makeup until I’ve run out of a product. We are 3 months down and 1/3 the way to my goal. Focusing on using up what I already have helps me keep my spending under control, find enjoyment in what I already own and reduce my waste. And I do love seeing empty space in previously over cluttered drawers. 🤤🤤🤤 #makeuprehab #projectpan #daveramsey #babysteps #barefootinvestor #savingmoney #savemoney #moneysavingtips #money #finances #everydollarcounts #frugalliving #frugal #buildwealth #financialfreedom #financialindependence #FIREcommunity #millenialmoney #moneymatters #personalfinance #budget #budgeting #onabudget #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #debtfreenz #debtisdumb #debtsucks #livingonabudget

Well that's good news, and I'm quite impressed at how fast it was. . Mark's doctor rang yesterday morning to advise that as hes classed as vulnerable he needs to be tested, and someone would be in touch to make an appointment. Ten minutes later he got a phone call to say the appointment was for 2PM that afternoon. And less than 24 hours later the results came back. . Was a bit put out when 10 minutes after the doctor rang he got a bill for $49 for his "consultation". Ummm it wasnt really a consultation, you just rang to tell him someone else would ring him to make an appointment. It was a 1minute phone call. Oh well, it's worth it for the peace of mind 😊 . I'm going to have to re-jig my sinking funds though. I'm not sure if I haven't allocated enough to medical, or it's just that he had so many specialist/doctors visits in a short space of time, but that fund is well and truly empty! Didnt help that his prescription renewal this week was nearly $100 either 😥 . But at the end of the day, as we always say, #healthbeforewealth Stay safe and #stayathome everybody ❤ . . . . . . . . . .#frugal #frugalliving #frugallife #dfc #saving #onabudget #livewithintention #debtfree #debtfreeliving #financialfreedom #sinkingfunds #debtfreecommunitynz #organisedlife #organised #organized #organizedlife #debtfreecommunity #intentionalliving #debtfreejourney #barefootinvestor #daveramsey #nzdebtfree #nzdebtfreecommunity #debtfreenz #ozdebtfreecommunity

In the interests of full disclosure, our grocery bill is through the roof with this crazy time we find ourselves in. I’m talking double what it normally would be! There are multiple reasons for this: + First, we are shopping exclusively local as our small town traders really need the business (no Coles or Woolies here!). This is very bad for the budget but good in terms of quality of produce (see my pic of today’s grocery goodies from our greengrocer!) Also, while normally I wait and strategically buy ‘expensive’ items on sale (e.g nappies, meat, bulk cereal, kitty litter) right now I’m having to buy things when I can get them, usually at full price. I had a pretty good stash but we’re at the tail end now... anyone else finding their grocery bill has risen?

Working from my parents during the times of Coronavirus with no desk took its toll out on me. . . Due to a coronavirus case in my apartment block I’m not actually living there right now (also I have a roof leak they can’t get anyone out to fix because no ones working). . . It’s a cute white desk from freedom but as it’s delivery only I think I have a bit of a wait 😅 . . #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #ozdebtfreecommunity #debttomojo #mojo #savingmoney #livingfrugal #budgetplanner #budgeting #debtfreecommunityaustralia #moneygoals #firsthomebuyer #firsthome #singledebtfreejourney #teamtinyshovel #sixfiguredebtclub #financialindependance #barefootinvestor #daveramseybabysteps #dfc #daveramsey

My set up is pretty simple - my money comes in and I move it to 4 other locations. 1) To my mortgage account, 2) Bills saving account, 3) General ‘big’ savings account and 4) my fun money savings, like a smile account in Barefoot. I have a savings account from my savings last year of 30K which I consider my emergency fund, alongside my big savings I’ll probably use this for a deposit on house 2. ✨

Wild Saturday morning here 🎉 the plaster just came to finish the cornice around the kitchen cabinets. And I got the job of cleaning all the fine dust off the floor and cabinets 😩 so I thought I would share what I do to save money. I have a Dettol mop for spot mops and find them amazing for fine dust like plaster, but instead of the wipes I use a microfiber cloth and it works so well! Then I can throw it in the wash! I also use baby wipes for other messes, I just use two and spread them out and I don’t have a problem with them moving. They also work well, and if you follow @fardy_facts you can use the PEG wipes to protect from the virus! It's hard to believe I am this close to being free of all consumer debt 😱😱 . I think I should be able to pay this amount off by the end of April. I cannot wait to start contributing to my emergency fund instead of debt payoff! If I have learnt anything from this covid-19 pandemic it's the importance of saving for a rainy day.

A fun little chart to track how much I put towards my emergency fund each month. I’ll try to post an update every month. April should be even better if I stick to my guns! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The reason there’s $0 for January is because I have a little sinking fund for my big expenses such as car rego, ad hoc medical and dental bills etc, which I was building up. I used to combine it with my emergency fund but I’ve split them now so I don’t dip into it unnecessarily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you guys do sinking funds? #dfc #debtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunityaustralia #daveramsey #babysteps #barefootinvestor #barefootsteps #personalfinance #budgeting #savingmoney

Half way accomplished SF? 💰 . . Original goal was to have all this together by the end of April. We can still make it. It's just going to be a struggle 😔 . . Not going to lie, my pay is down to $350/week and that's my half of the weekly mortgage 🏘️ . . Lucky for our emergency $5k fund. Will be taking $200 of that each week, for the next 6 months, then all our jobs should be back to normal and we'd save that up again 📊 . . And lucky the Mr is still working FT, but took about $600 fn paycut (commissions)🌦️ . . However, we're optimistic and glad we won't be going into further debt because of the Corona... 😅 . . #daveramsay #barefootinvestor #debtfreejourney #debtfreecommunity #dfc #dfj #budgetting #budget #emergencyfund

Swimming lessons canceled and childcare is now free! . This will “free up” $567 a month. . I have my car rego & insurance that is due at the end of the April so these funds will go towards those costs this month. . Moving forward it will go to our Fire Extinguisher account for a month or so to bring that back up to $1000. . After that into our House Savings account. With hubby not working and his pay being reduced he might not be able to transfer his usual fortnightly $500, but we’ll just have to wait and see just how much his pay will drop. . What are you finding you’re saving money on thanks fo the restrictions ect??? . #TheDonaldsonWay #Goals #DebtFree #DebtFreeJourney #DebtFreeCommunity #OzDebtFreeCommunity #AprilGoals #Savings #SavingsGoals #PersonalFinance #EliminateDebt #SpendingFast #HouseSavings #SavingEveryDollar #Budgeting #MumLife #WeCanDoThis #SideHustle #EveryDollarCounts #BarefootInvestor #WorkHard #HustleHard #SeeResults

Finalised March numbers! 🙌 I've decided to split out what we have withdrawn for shares, rather than showing a net negative savings number. I think that's more correct as we are investing the money and not spending it on material things, like a car or furniture. . We have saved much more than I thought, mainly because I always keep enough cash in our everyday account until payday (mid month), and now daycare is free, so more can be sent to the offset account! Plus no bus fare ($200ish/month), no gym fees, less petrol etc now that I'm working from home. . Our % of net income saved is the same as January even though we saved less in March. That's because my husband was paid slightly less in March. . Our mortgage is now $89,382 with $42,062 invested in shares. If we never withdrew any money for shares, our mortgage would be $47,320 😍 How is everyone coping with everything this month? I've become very lazy with exercise now that my running club is cancelled. I walk the dog and go on the trampoline but that's about it! I'm going to start @kayla_itsines program tomorrow! I've never gone further than week 4 😂 I'm also finding it pretty hard, motivation wise, to work from home. My personality is much more suited towards an office environment! . . #budget #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #mortgage #mortgagefreeaussies #mortagefreegoals #investing #ourbudgetfamily #saving #workingmum #budgeting #dfc #daveramsey #barefootinvestor #retirement #debt

Where I’m up to! Paying off consumer debt has meant my expenses went DOWN DOWN ⬇️ so I give myself more splurge now, and although I don’t always use it, it’s nice to know it’s there! Whatever is left from the fortnight goes into my fire account, but that isn’t going to be used to retire early. Week 1 of working at home complete! It’s been stressful to say the least, completely changing my routine and having the systems continually crashing for 3/5 days. It got slightly better as the week went on, thankfully. All in all, I’m thankful I still have a job and that I’m being paid a full-time wage. I look forward to seeing what comes of working from home. Also super thankful my team has a Insta group chat, it keeps me motivated in the slow periods when calls don’t come through and we’re all able to help each other instead of waiting for a manager to reply (which if they’re not at their desk can take a while - I actually just gave up yesterday and called my boss’ personal number for help haha) and take up more of the customers time. I’m really enjoying my job so far, it’s been just over 2 months and I’ve learnt a lot of new and useful skills. My coworkers are great and we are really like a lil fam.

I’ve had these coins in my wallet for nearly a month, and I know this because I looked back and I made a post about when I got them haha. I’ve realised that I’m not going to use them so I’ve put them in my money tin. I started my money tin in April 2019 and I think it would have about $15 in there including the $7 I just put in haha. I RARELY use cash anyway, and with everything going on cash is sort of frowned upon and there are even stores that aren’t accepting cash. So in the tin it goes! • • • • * #ozdebtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunity #frugalliving #debtfreecommunityaustralia #barefootinvestor #financialfreedom #debtfreeliving #goaldigger #budgetlife #moneysmart #smartmoney #sidehustle #debtfreegoals #debtfreecommunityaustralia #debtfreeliving #sidehustler #everydollarcounts

100%! I hope shops realise that whole this health crisis will pass and we will forget the feelings of isolation and uncertainty, we absolutely will remember how people and business behaved. My grocery bill skyrocketed last week because there wasn’t a single special at my usual @countdown_nz. I was pleased to see they have returned their specials this week. But as a result I did two households’ groceries at @newworldnz instead. I appreciated how they haven’t pulled any specials and will be increasing my shopping there accordingly. It was a good move to see the workers will be getting a 10% increase - they should be rewarded for their extra efforts during the last month or so. Anyone else rethinking the way they shop based on how some businesses have behaved during #covid19 so far? #daveramsey #babysteps #barefootinvestor #savingmoney #savemoney #moneysavingtips #money #finances #everydollarcounts #frugalliving #frugal #buildwealth #financialfreedom #financialindependence #FIREcommunity #millenialmoney #moneymatters #personalfinance #budget #budgeting #onabudget #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #debtfreenz #debtisdumb #debtsucks #livingonabudget #groceryshopping #groceryhaul

Was so pleased to see the networth only dropped by 3% in this first quarter but this is because we were still in investing / contributing capital throughout this downturn. It is also because I have some actively managed investments and not only indexed funds. Actively managed usually do better in a down market.

We have been working our butts off to do a final lump sum payment to this loan and as of 9pm tonight we have officially paid it off. It’s been years in the making with serval stops along the way and debt added over time. I am so thankful to my parents for loaning me money over the years to keep me off high interest loans. It was an amazing moment showing them the final transfer tonight and it couldn’t have come at a better time with J off work indefinitely due to COVID-19.
