This 1976 flared arch Rolls-Royce Corniche 1A is shown in what many consider to be one of the best colour schemes, British Racing Green complimented by a parchment interior. The Mulliner Park Ward (MPW) 2-door bodywork remained the same right from the pre-Corniche 2-door convertible and saloon ‘Shadow’s’ which were introduced in 1965 not to mention the near identical Bentley Corniche and later Continental models that ended produced a mere 30 years later! The original MPW cars sported a 6230cc engine, 3 speed automatic gearbox, the Citroen derived Hydropneumatic suspension and what aficionados came to refer to as the Chipondale facia, which give these cars a unique albeit antique feeling. From 1971 came the larger 6750cc engine which had its power boosted by 10% to distinguish them from the earlier MPW cars but the very last and most desirable cars were the 1995 Corniche S cars which were turbo charged and produced over 300 bhp, which was at least 100 bhp more than the original MPW cars! No matter which version takes your fancy, all Corniche’s were beautifully made to the highest standards and much more valuable in all forms than the much more numerous Silver Shadow and Bentley T models. Buy now if you can as these cars are as solid an investment as possible in this World.
