So I wanted to share some thoughts on this situation we are in right now, from the only real position I am qualified to do so, and that is as a coach, and as a lifter.
This is a video of my last deadlift of 255kg at my first competition in late November 2014. Up until this point my training had been relatively unspecific, especially compared to more typical powerlifting programming you would see these days.
I still turned up, and did okay.
I had the honour of pulling the last deadlift of the day, which is always a really cool feeling.
Anyway; point is, this is a period of lower specificity for most of us, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing (even if it might feel like one). There are multiple factors that go into be a strong ass human, and moving in some different ways for a little while won’t mean you’ll lose all your gains and might even open the door for more gains further down the road.
Comp was Woking, town hall, SE powerlifting before the existence of @smpowerlifting I think 🙈😅
