This photo was taken in October at the end of a 3 day backpacking trip I took with my friends Brendan McCarthy @bmccar1075 and Tom Schaeffer. This was our third trip to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area in West Viriginia. We had one cold but clear day, one beautiful day, and a pretty wet last day. All in all, not too bad for a trip to the Sods.
Nothing I have ever done is more humbling or illuminating, and nothing will ever make you more aware, appreciative, and grateful for your blessings than camping out in the wilderness. I have learned a lot along the way, but still have so, so much to learn, in all regards. We captured this moment at Bear Rock, normally a cliff area with a beautiful and expansive vista out into the valley below. The fog was so thick, though, you might not even know from these photos. The steamy horizon took on the visual of a vast sea of qi, and I decided to pause and simply breathe it all in.
I will be teaching a special Qi Flow Pop-Up class this Saturday, November 16th, from 2:30-3:30, at Yogaworks Severna Park @yogaworks_baltimore. We will combine elements of both vinyasa yoga and qigong, leading to a meditative and calming, yet still movement-based and active experience. Come settle your mind, invigorate your body, and enjoy a fun flow on a Saturday afternoon.
Thanks to Brendan for taking this photo at the very end of our trip. Brendan has taught me so much about the outdoors, in addition to so many other things. He was also my training/sparring partner in college at Towson @towsonuniversity. Along with our friend, Eagle Scout outdoorsman extraordinaire, Tom Schaeffer, Brendan literally keeps me alive while out there. Respect to these two gentlemen for their excellence and survival knowledge.
