Tonight is our last night of Financial Peace University! In 9 weeks, we have accomplished more financially than I ever thought possible. Going through this course in the midst of everything going on, made it that much more important. I miss going to Parkview and having the classes together, and meeting with our group. But, we stuck to it and did it at home the rest of the time once the Stay At Home went into place.
We have sat down every paycheck together and budgeted our money. We have talked about our dreams and what we want to accomplish from taking this class. We have a better understanding of each other when it comes to budgeting together. Money is no longer a fight between us. Through this class we have truly become a team. •
During this nine weeks, we completed the first baby step: saving $1,000 for an emergency fund. Then, we paid off our two smallest credit cards- and even shredded one of them! Now, in the midst of all the chaos going on right now, we’re putting a pause of paying off our debt as quickly as possible. We’re still making our payments, but we’re putting more into savings, just in case something happens and either of us can’t work anymore. If we stay working through it, when we’re done and things go back to “normal”, we will have a big chunk to pay off more debt. Either way, I’m so thankful for this class and how much we have learned. I’m not stressing and freaking out if either of us has to stop working due to everything. I know we have savings to back us up, and two credit cards that we don’t have to pay anymore. Words cannot describe how thankful I feel. In nine weeks, this is what we have accomplished. I know that it’s going to take a while to complete baby step 2: pay off debt, but I feel so good about how far we’ve already come, I can’t wait to keep going! •
If anyone has the chance to take FPU, do it! You won’t regret it. It has truly changed our lives and they way we live, and even the way we communicate with each other. Thank you @parkviewchristian for offering the class and pushing us to take it. Thank you @daveramsey for helping us. We are forever thankful. ♥️
