Starting a fat loss journey can be really hard. I mean, it's already February 16th and many of us feel like we haven't made ANY progress. Here are a few starter points that have worked for me and many others I know and have worked with: *Track your calories. No more scientific way to be accurate in managing your goal. If you don't know how much you're consuming you may be surprised (especially those who are just "eating clean" and hoping for results. *Find regular activity that you enjoy. I recommend resistance training but it could be anything to get your metabolism responding. *Find some food swaps. I would never tell ANYONE to give up ANYTHING. But you may have to eat less of your favorite and swap it out with lower calorie options. *Walk. Best designed invention ever. Thank you God. *Get good sleep. It helps you recover, physically and emotionally. Sleep regulates groovy sounding hormones like grehlin and cortisol that have an impact on fat loss. *Hire a good coach. One that cares about your journey long after you've worked together. Think of a coach as a tool distributor. Get all you can get from them to keep building for your lifetime. The struggle was REAL for me today after leaving church.. ➖HOW TO TRAIN CALVES➖ - Sundays feel so much better when it’s 75 degrees and there’s no work on the radar until Tuesday 😎☀️. Let’s talk a little about those elusive calves. Many want, but oh so few have. It’s true that developing calves can be quite challenging for some...BUT it’s not impossible. - Time to break it down: Your calf muscles are made up of predominantly type I “slow twitch” muscle fibers. Meaning they respond best to high rep ranges and frequent training. Notice I said “respond best” and not “respond only.” You should still mix in some variety (this goes for all muscle groups). Here are some general guidelines to follow for best calf development: 🍗 Work in a FULL range of motion. Nobody gives a sh*t that you can half-rep 18 plates. 🍗 Train in high rep ranges. Definitely experiment working up in the 15-20 rep range. 🍗 Train up to 3 days per week. Being an endurance muscle they can withstand the heavy workload. 🍗 Lastly, have good genetics 😉. Summer’s right around the corner and everyone’s setting goals to get the summer body they want. If I can give you one piece of advice that would be: Don’t go 0-100. What do I mean by that? ⬇️. • • “I need to be super strict with my diet.” No you don’t. You’re not competing are you? Then why get ridiculously strict? What if I told you, you could get your summer body by just slowly tapering off the “bad” foods you’re eating?? What if I told you, you actually don’t have to get rid of them??⬇️. • • One set program.. the 80/20 diet. I don’t compete so I’m going to live by this for the next 12-16 weeks and up my cardio a little. That’s it!! What’s 80/20?⬇️. • • To follow the 80/20 rule, you eat a "clean" diet 80 percent of the time and then allow yourself to enjoy a few indulgences 20 percent of the time. 1 For many people, this means they eat well during the week and relax a bit on the weekend. Find your time during the week to eat clean and track your macros and enjoy the little things on the weekend! Have cheesecake hell! If you have any questions please hit me up!!!!

This morning @eric.cltrunner was kind enough to run at my pace. The last time I ran with him, I felt bad I couldn’t join in the conversation. In my head, I felt like I was struggling to breathe and talking would make it worse. I just kept remembering the days I was in JROTC singing a running cadence. As we started to run, I remembered why I started this journey in September in the first place. To push myself. To try things I didn’t think I could do. So I said f*** it and turned off my playlist and audio coach. I just wanted to enjoy the great company and glorious sunrise we were experiencing. It was one of the most enjoyable runs I’ve ever had. I did feel bad for slowing @eric.cltrunner down and was expecting some horrible numbers on my part. However, when I looked at the stats of the run, I was surprised how well I did while talking and not having a playlist to zone out. Much appreciation to @eric.cltrunner 🙏 To top it off I won the #sharethelove prize package! I NEVER WIN ANYTHING! An amazing feeling! Run done! @austinmarathon 1:58 finish. I’ve run 12 half marathons with my 1st in 2010 finishing in 2:26. My previous fastest was 2012 with a 2:07 finish. I just beat my PR by 9 minutes. Still have room for improvement, but will be hanging up the long distance running for awhile to focus on the gym/weightlifting. How on earth did I get this lucky?⁣ Dom is a lot of things some good, some bad but when it comes to being a father he excels. ⁣ ⁣ He sometimes questions if he is doing a good job...dad guilt is a real thing, not just mom guilt. I remind him daily that he if an amazing dad. He shows them how to be good humans and how much he loves them. He also tells them often. What is striking me as a huge difference between amateur and pro is the time spent on the ground when feet touch it. Pros are soft and powerful. We are generally slow and not enough efficient. The best exercise for visualisation and starting working on it is strides/relaxed sprints. You absolutely need to do this workout very often. Imagine yourself soft, fast. Try to leave the ground quickly right after touching it. As an example you can do it after your easy run. Between 5 and 10 reps of 15sec with 1min rest. Think speed, but also technique. Imagine yourself flying! 🔹Training of the day: 32km hilly run slightly faster than 15km/h. Some splits were 10km/h due to steepness and others close to 20km/h!! Into a Push-Pull-Legs split for the next few months and man is it kicking my ass. Still fasting 16/8 so keeping my strength is a priority. Let’s see if I can make these two work! FYI my chest is weak AF so don’t hate 😂😂 here’s how I started my workout with 205 for 6. Not the Best ROM but I get a little intimidated pushing a barbell sometimes.

Day 21 of #75hard ! . . I genuinely started this with the goal of becoming a #fitdad and turn my dad bod into something I could be proud of. . . But the reading portion has massively helped my personal and professional life in a big way. . . I’m planning to scale to 6-figure months by the end of 2021. I’ve already learned from the last book how my own mindset keeps me trapped. . . Now it’s time to increase the skill set and get more deals over the line.

What it means to me to stay dedicated. ⁣ ⁣ In my own words staying dedicated means that no matter the struggles you have in life, no matter the weather....you stay true to who you are and continuously work to perfect your skill. ⁣ ⁣ Who knew that a kid from #thousandoaks now living in #lasvegas would come to love the art of running. I certainly did not think I would be where I am at today....running 8 miles every Sunday plus additional miles on Saturdays. ⁣ ⁣ My first year running I remember telling myself “just finish and you never have to look back” and I remember finishing and wanting more, wanting to be the best runner that I could be. Fast forward 3 years and I have stayed dedicated to myself and to the sport. Whew! Made it through the week fasting and only eating one meal a day most days. This will probably be my one meal today. Mostly veggies on the salad except for a can of albacore tuna and 3 pieces of bacon chopped up. I am so stuffed I may not need to eat again today. Might have to make another run to Aldi for some more veggies for the week. Week 2 of fasting coming soon!
