The “good life” is right now. 〰️
Right here, in front of you. In the overflowing laundry basket and incessant asking for snacks and the ridiculous antics required for you to successfully shampoo and rinse little blonde curls. 〰️
The good life is here, in the repetitive instruction and discipline. It’s when the blowout happens right as you were about to leave or the baby decides to nurse for an hour instead of 15 minutes and now you’re really late. 〰️
The good life is right here, with tumbleweeds of dog hair floating through the forest of scattered blocks. It’s in the spilled smoothie you scrubbed out of the carpet this morning, and in the way tiny hands are so eager to help you hold the dustpan and water the Christmas tree that you probably should’ve taken down by now but can’t seem to find the time or energy to do it. 〰️
The good life is definitely here, in the hunky man who starts the coffee every morning and leaves a smoothie in the fridge for you before he leaves for work and sends you photos like this one while you’re downstairs nursing the baby...again.
It’s in the sweet girl who “blesses” you for every sneeze AND cough because she doesn’t know the difference and who gets fixated on one book at a time for long enough that you can legitimately memorize it. 〰️
The good life is here, in the boy who destroys you with his smile just like his daddy and your heart might actualllllly explode if he giggles at you one more time. 〰️
It’s in the exhaustion and messes of a full day where “nothing” got done, but still ends by completing a word puzzle with your best friend before bed.
The flashy moments, the mundane moments, grand ones, and barely noticeable ones - it’s in all of them. The “good life” is not some illusive future where things look a little more structured and intentional and tidy. It’s right here, in the predictable beauty of unpredictability. 〰️
We just need eyes to see it, and hearts of gratitude to appreciate it. .
