Friday night I went to PNB’s opening of Home Sourced, which showcased Seattle’s magical art across so many mediums. There was so much going on stage it was almost overwhelming, but perfectly so. I got lots of goosebumps. Brand new choreography, gorgeous dancing, flowing costumes, enchanting music. One of my favorite portions was some choreo completely focusing on thee dancers’ backs while be pale golden skirts made sure their legs and feet stayed outta the picture. There was also 13 chandeliers on stage 😱The final piece, @miles.pertl ‘s Wash of Grey was all about dreamy time-lapse animations of Seattle scenes being painted, rain pouring down onto the dancers... jeeeezus.
During intermission guests could enjoy a really beautiful selection of paintings and buy prints from Seattle artists. I’m not quite sure how my two lil doodles got to hang out amidst some impressive work - I think someone was like F it they’re small enough to fit anywhere, dogs are cyoot, go for it. But I resisted the invasive impulse to pull them off and hide them in my purse ha. It’s weird how one of the side effects of becoming an adult for me has been an intense anxiety surrounding sharing drawings or paintings with people. I dunno if I’ll do it again, but I’m glad I know now I can beat the anxiety, amazed at the amount of work that went into the Skid Row Gallery, and feel big warm-fuzzies at how kind folks are. Anywho, show runs this week still, it’s amazing. #mccawhall #pnb #pacificnorthwestballet #seattle #dance #ballet #fridaynight #latergram #dressedup #fancy #nightout #art #doodles #thingstodo #paintings #artshow #anxiety
