Do you ever feel like you are missing your relationship with God, Spirit, Source, The Divine, The Universe, whatever you call it? Here are two things you can incorporate every day to help you build that connection: prayer and meditation. Marianne Williamson says that prayer is when you talk to God and meditation is when you listen.
Prayer 🙏🏽 : Spill your heart out. Your hopes, your fears, your gratitude, your deep dark secrets. You can do it in your head, out loud, by writing. My prayers have evolved into a constant communication in my head with God. My most frequent prayers are, please help me through this, or simply, thank you.
Meditation 🧘🏼♀️: As someone who has tried meditating for like 8 years and just recently figured it out thanks to the Calm app, I know it can sound intimidating. My advice is to sit comfortably and focus on box breathing: breathe in for 4 seconds through the nose, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 through the mouth in O shape, hold for 4, repeat. Focus on the breath and let the thoughts pass through your mind like clouds pass through the sky. Imagine a bright white light connecting your heart to the earth beneath you and the sky above you. Do this for even 5 minutes a day, and I guarantee you’ll start to receive messages from your God.
While these have been the most helpful tools for me, there are infinite ways to connect with God! Anytime you are in a state of joy and gratitude, you are being one with the Universe. This is the state we were born to live in; it’s our birth right.
