A very common and famous phrase says that "the most beautiful things in life are free". Easier preached than practiced, honestly.
Most of our lives, we run after things that don't matter, one of them being money. A lot of you may disagree with me here, but I would say that while money is important to get through life, there has to be a limit or a threshold for yourself, where you know you earn enough to sustain your basic needs and you have to stop running behind it.
With widespread consumerism, people are increasingly striving for things that they can easily do without; and this greed is increasing the pressure on our natural resources, more than it can take. This over-extraction of natural resources hampers the regenerative power of resources, putting our very future at stake.
Apart from this, there are many other vices we are overpowered by - jealousy, hatred, competition with others - to name a few. Rather than working towards one's own goals, we tend to compare ourselves with others and waste our energies. It is therefore important to realize that life should be lived by striking a balance - in thoughts and actions. Because we have just this one life, and what a waste it will be if we lived it any other way but happily.
