》PUSH YOUR LIMITS《
Overcoming mental barriers and knowing my limits is something I have really been struggling with.
Over the last 2 weeks I have been participating in the @lululemonausnz #lululemon4080challenge and the hardest part for me has been convincing my brain to get up and get going. Yesterday my mind was telling me that it was a way bettter idea to stay in bed and finish reading my book. My mind didn't like the idea of getting wet or running in a storm... So I finally convinced myself to just run 4km. But once I got out there and started running, my body felt great, and dispite the anxiety I was getting from trying to outrun a storm, I ended up running 6km not 4km.
On Monday my mind limited me again, it told me to do 5km, but when I got moving I thought I would see just how far this body would take me... I ended up running the furthest I have ever run... I did 13km, no stopping, no walking... Just running.
The hardest part is starting, my mind holds me back, I doubt my own ability and question my own strength. But once I get out there I realise just how capable I am and my mind then pushes through the pain and the mental blockages and I soar. I am learning to stop putting limits on my own ability, to overcome my thoughts and to push through those comfort zones. The only way to improve is to test yourself. The body and mind work together to push those limits to make the impossible possible.
So I ask you? Are you suffocating in your own comfort zone or are you overcoming those barriers, pushing through the pain and testing your limits?
