What a month! I don’t think anyone I know has experienced anything like this before. People who have gone through the war in the Balkans have drawn some parallels, and I can see some similarities for sure. The difference is that this time, we are all in this together; everyone is impacted.
One similarity is that the year the war broke out in Bosnia, the nature was kinder, more giving and more beautiful than in the years prior. We received reports from people that their gardens produced more vegetables than ever before, the weather was kinder and beauty was to be found in nature all around. I’m seeing the nature doing the same thing now.
And what about real estate? What is going on?
We started with a very strong March - showing signs of a market that was moving in favour of sellers. With my buying clients, we saw a steady increase in prices, consistent multiple offers for good product and the conditions where we needed to act fast, view homes prior to Open Houses, and write competitive offers.
All of this changed mid-March. People are still selling and buying as many don’t have any choice but to do so. There is a reason real estate agents are considered providers of essential services. At the same time, the number of buyers has drastically dropped as so many people need to focus on their health, families, source of income, and other essential needs. And this is the right thing to do at this time.
I hope you all stay well and healthy. And if you have any questions about real estate, feel free to email, text or call. I am still working 😊.
