#2020ReadingChallenge Book 8! (My goal is to read 24 books this year). Mindful Money by Canna Campbell @sugarmammatv If you're looking for an Australian based introduction to building passive income, that is straightforward & easy to understand, Canna is a great place to start. I've followed her YouTube channel for a little while now, and I like her 'Baby Step' approach to building up an investment portfolio. The book reiterates pretty much everything you find on her channel, sequenced in a order that helps builds a new financial framework - so if you're starting from scratch you can still follow along. If you're going to read this one, it would definitely be worthwhile reading her other book as well, 'The $1000 Project', as I think they're really 2 parts of a whole system. The $1000 project is touched on a little bit in this book, but not fully dived into. Have you read 'Mindful Money'? What did you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. What are you reading atm? I'm always looking for new books to read, so hit me with your suggestions! #lifeonabudget #debtfreejourney #debtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunityAustralia #ozdebtfreecommunity #journeytofi #buildwealth #FIRE #books #readingchallenge #BYEbookclub

We are already 6 days in! I can’t believe it! the last few weeks have been a whirlwind as I’m sure it has for everyone. . . . Things I’m grateful for- 🌱my family- so lucky to be able to FaceTime them and call and text them. 🌱having a job. I’ve got many family members that have been stood down as a result of COVID-19. I have been classed as an essential worker (and I got a very official letter to carry around from my boss incase I’m questioned by police 👮🏻‍♀️ eek that’s a bit extreme but apparently some other teachers have been pulled over to explain why they are out driving 😬). 🌱My husband is doing a great job watching our daughters (if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that he had a workplace accident that left him with a range of issues including a traumatic brain injury). 🌱I’m using my time at home to redo our laundry and focus on our veggie garden. Hopefully in the school holidays I’ll get to sorting through the garage and the shed. 🌱having a good emergency fund. Thank goodness for the #debtfreecommunity that has inspired me to get our finances in order. It’s been just over 2 years and I’m going to be forever grateful that we woke up got on the @daveramsey #babysteps and paid off our debt. 🌱my car getting fixed this week after getting hail damage in January- I’m so glad it wasn’t a write off. 🌱my wonderful colleagues keeping me sane when I have to be at work. I know how many people would love to be still able to go to work. 🌱to live in Australia 🇦🇺. I think I’m so lucky to live in a country with the healthcare and government benefits that support so many people. It’s not perfect but we are far luckier than a lot of other countries. . . . Practising gratitude can be hard on these times. And I’ll probably be frustrated by 10am due to the online training I’ve got to sit through today- but for the moment... it’s important to think about the good things on my life. ❤️

Tomorrow’s YouTube video is all about savings rate.... what do you think the ideal savings rate is??? I know ours isn’t as high as some personal finance bloggers but I’m quite happy with it. I have two young boys and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. So working more for a higher savings rate just isn’t a priority for me at the moment 💁🏻‍♀️. . . . . . #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtfree #financialfreedom #financialindependence #ozdebtfreecommunity #savings #saving #frugal #frugalliving #budgeting #investing #stockmarket #ficommunity #passiveincome #networth #firemovement #firecommunity #personalfinance #financialpeace #retireearly #financeblogger #daveramsey #barefootinvestor #bfi #youtube #sidehustle #savingsrate #networthupdate

🛒📝Without a list I would rack up easily over $150.00 in over spending. I would walk down the aisle of the supermarket and pick up all the specials and things I wanted to try and eat for the week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I realised this mindless habit was actually contributing to an increasing shopping bill every week. So I put into action a shopping list. I only buy what we need for the week and in accordance to our meal plan. 🍝🍩🥩🍞⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This money hack has honestly saved me so much money. I check the weekly specials and no longer have the urge to impulse buy. If it isnt on the list I dont need it!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This even works for online shopping! I have a lot of wonderful people who follow and support my page so it was about time I told you all a bit about us and why my page is called ‘Our Frugal Future Farm Life’! . . My name is Molly and you may have seen my partner Nic feature in some photos much to his dismay 😂 I am 24 and Nic is 26. . We met over two years ago, both not looking for a relationship but I ended up falling for Nic and not too long after he fell for me too💛 . . We started saving to buy our first home in March 2019 and ended up purchasing in September 2019... we opted for a 90day settlement and moved in in December 2019! . . Nic grew up in the country and has always worked in the country, when we met he ended up living with me in Adelaide. Ive never been too fond of the city and Nic isn’t a fan either. So we moved! Back to where Nic grew up! . . I love our house and I love where we live. The downside is the my beautiful family are back in Adelaide so I don’t get to see them much. . . Our little beauty is in town and was amazing value. Its a 3 bed, 2 bath solid home on 750sqm and we have a walk in wardrobe and walk in pantry! We purchased it for under 200K which still blows my mind everyday! . . This house is our little stepping stone... it was a very strategic purchase and the aim is to set ourselves up with a solid investment and a manageable mortgage. . . The return on investment when we rent it out in the future is really high, this house suits our needs now personally but when it doesn’t suit us anymore it will still suit us financially. . . First goal is to pay off this house, purchase another, purely as an investment for immediate rental and then pay the mortgage with rental income (there isn’t many places where this would work but here we will cover our repayments and then some) . The long term goal is to purchase upwards of 60 acres and have livestock, a giant veggie patch and lots of chookins! Hence the page name! . . #debtfreecommunity #ozdebtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtfreecommunityaustralia #frugalliving #frugallife #onabudget #mortgage #firsttimehomebuyer #homeowner #aussiefinance #frugalcommunity #financialfreedom #financialgoals #financialindependence

Side hustles: Q1 this year I made $292 in side hustle income (website testing $167, RateSetter referral $50 & attending a focus group $75). Work: My de-facto partner lost her job three weeks ago due to coronavirus shut downs. She is entitled to the Australian Government JobKeeper payment, but that claim is lodged through her employer. That business looks like it's going under so we're not too hopeful about that 😐 I earn too much for my partner to be able to claim unemployment benefits, so we're down to one income. As a result, I'm covering a larger share than usual of household expenses. I'm not saving or investing beyond salary sacrificing 10% of my income to superannuation. I'm thankful I'm consumer debt free and have an emergency fund. It helps my anxiety a lot in these challenging times. I hope everyone is doing ok ❤

For the past year I have used my little brothers Stan account. Last weekend I logged in and he had deactivated his membership 😭😭 I was half way through watching Mcleods daughters from the start! 😢 Look I’m a bit devastated, but not enough to start paying for the membership myself. I pay for Netflix anyway. And I can’t justify the cost for both! What it did make me think of was that I pay for Netflix and Spotify family, a cost of $25-30per month . And it’s used by 5 different people. There are a few free riders in my family! If it’s the same in your situation, have you asked for your family to share the costs? I’m a bit grumpy I pay for so many peoples benefit!

And a breakdown of my grocery haul! Now I have to pack away the meat and try and fit it in the tiny freezer and do a pantry inventory with a meal plan! Hopefully that will keep me entertained enough tonight.

Hands down probably the most expensive grocery shop I have ever done. I think the worst part was my team discount saved me $41 this fortnight. I expect most of this to last a month or longer and now I get to create a meal plan based on our shopping. Which is hard because I have a man child who doesn’t like to try things outside of frozen meat pies and chips 🤦🏼‍♀️

($28/month) $2,390 paid in interest. (24.95%) But it is gone! Very proud of every all the sacrifices we have made for this. So you had a shitty month. You spent more on groceries than you budgeted for; you drained your mini Emergency Fund; you didn't move the needle on your debt like you wanted to; you charged something to your credit card 🙊; you missed a workout (or 18); you ate a whole pizza; you bought the plastic wrapped bananas ... whatever. Whatever our goals are, chances are there will be a time when we each "fall off the wagon". Life happens, shit happens. Sometimes really shitty things happen that are completely out of our control. Sometimes our big goals need to take a backseat. Sometimes we stumble & fall. Sometimes we just straight up f$% up. It doesn't matter. Honestly, it doesn't. What matters is whether or not you get back up. Whether or not you try again. No matter what has happened, you haven't failed until you quit. Success isn't a perfect journey. Success is not giving up, no matter how many times you stumble. No matter what has happened (or what happens in the future), it isn't over - you haven't failed - until you quit. So don't quit. Fall - get back up. Try again. Keep going. Change is hard. Change takes time. Success isn't easy (if it was, everyone would be doing it!) So whatever has happened, dust off your knees, boo, stand up and take a deep breath, and when you're ready, leave the past behind you, re-focus & go again. You've go this xx #lifeonabudget #debtfreejourney #debtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunityAustralia #ozdebtfreecommunity #journeytofi #frugalliving #budgetliving #frugallife #budgetlife #frugalmum #budgetmum

Savings was hit hard this month, if you've been keeping up with my latest posts you will realise. If you haven't it's not for the reason you would think. I am very fortunate as a healthcare worker to still be in a job. However due to being in the private sector our elective surgery cases have been cancelled (apart from a few) meaning we potentially won't have much work and I'll have to dig into annual leave, of which I don't have much and had saved for the wedding in July (although this is looking less likely as the days pass). That being said if the worst came to the worst I can rejoin the agency I was previously working for to work elsewhere. So my situation unlike a lot of others currently is pretty good. Savings: So our savings have reduced a significant amount, this is due to purchasing $1800 worth of shares and spending $2600 on the toys to resell. So although we have less savings at this point, in the long run we will be much better off with these investments. Emergency: We had to pay insurance excess which was a real disappointment as we had saved such a comfortable emergency fund. We are lucky enough to have had enough in there to cover this and have some left over. Car fund: We were hoping to switch over the payments of the emergency fund to the car fund so we could also use it for car repairs however unfortunately due to paying the excess on insurance this won't be possible for a while. Still it's increased by a small amount and will still be utilised for rego, and insurance in the future. Travel Fund: we have increased our travel fund by $400, it's looking more and more likely that we won't be going away in July and we aren't sure if we can get our money back for the flights which was around $3000. We didn't get insurance as I usually wait till closer to the date. Lesson learnt, in future I will definitely be booking insurance when I pay for my flights. At least if we can't go in July we may have money for a shorter trip for the wedding if they postpone it or somewhere else at a later date. Presents Fund: Still plodding along nicely with the presents fund. Not many birthdays in this period so it's building up nicely.

▪️Honey soy chicken stir-fry▪️🍯🐔 SCROLL DOWN FOR RECIPE⬇️ A quick, simple stir-fry to make with minimal ingredients but loads of flavour. I usually love brocolli and red capsicum in my stir-frys but with brocolli at $10 a kg and capsicum at $14 that wasn't happening. I substituted with green capsicum and zucchini along with some of my budget friendly stir-fry regulars carrot and shallots. I grow the shallots in my herb garden at home and they are one of the easiest things to grow😊. . . . INGREDIENTS 400grams of chicken (thigh or breast) cut into strips 4 cups of chopped vegetables (I try to use 4 different types of veggies, 1 cup of each) 1/3 cup of soy sauce 1/3 cup of honey 1 teaspoon of crushed ginger (in jar) 3 teaspoons of crushed garlic (in jar) 2 teaspoons of cornflour 1/4 cup of water Rice or noodles to serve. . . . INSTRUCTIONS 1. Add soy sauce, honey, ginger, corn flour and water in a jug. Stir to combine. 2. Heat vegetable oil in not stick pan on high heat. Cook chicken in two batches. Cook each batch for around 3 minutes or until slightly browned. 3. Remove chicken from pan and set aside. Add garlic, capsicum, carrot and zucchini to pan and cook on high heat on high heat for around 3 minutes then add the shallots to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes or until vegetables are just slightly tender. 4. Return the chicken to the pan and add the sauce mixture. Simmer on low heat and stir slowly for 2 minutes. 5. Scott and I have both gotten new jobs with pay increases which start this month! 🧡💜 #teamscolody Scott secured a Financial Counselling role working 4 days a week and has doubled his hourly wage. 💰 Bonus: He gets salary sacrificing of $15,900 to reduce his tax and a fifth week of annual leave at full pay. 🏖 Downside: Increased commute time. 🚉 I started a new job in March which came with a $4k pay rise, but have just obtained another new job in my local area with a $5k pay rise, which makes $9k in total. 📈 Bonus: No more 3-hour commute each day. Salary sacrificing of $15,900 and $2,650 to reduce tax, a fifth week of annual leave at full pay AND 12 weeks of maternity leave at full pay if I decided to have another baby (which I totally won't, but a girl can dream). 👶 Downside: Now I have to drive the kids to school and daycare every morning 😣 Excited for my new role, but super triple excited for Scott starting his new career 🥰 Also our house starts building this month! They think it might be done by Christmas which would be amazing. We will be putting all of our payrises onto the mortgage and are aiming to have it paid off by end of 2030 🏡 #ozdebtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunity #daveramsay #barefootinvestor #firemovement #financialfreedom #ausdebtfreecommunity

With the government introducing new welfare payments and free childcare for the many, many people who need support during this time we might as well just move to a universal basic income, right? What are your thoughts? Would you be happy to pay higher taxes if it meant that everyone in your country was guaranteed a secure, reliable basic income?

This is my go to shampoo bar and is handmade in our Adelaide Hills 🙌. I tried quite a few before I found this one that works for my hair and I’m so glad it’s made local. . Now more than ever it is important to support small local businesses in our communities anyway we can, so I picked up a few extra bars and stored them away. . It may be only a small thing, but if we all try and do a small thing often, we may just get our small businesses through this 🤞 . I’m also grateful our debt free journey has allowed me the choices to spend a little extra buying local goods. . When we started this journey, some weeks after the mortgage and everyday expenses were paid, there wasn’t money for anything, not even $20 for food. I’m glad those days are behind us, and am glad we get to choose now. . What is your fave local buy? I’m tossing and turning on my idea to build my forever home now.... Our budget to build is 433k leaving us with a total mortgage of 750k. We are planning on getting a house we can grow into with all the things we want and stay 20+ years. We crunched the numbers and should be able to pay it off is 13 years, at our current savings rate. But now I’m thinking do I just build a smaller house that will be loads cheaper.. I won’t love it but we will survive, I guess! Financially makes a lot of sense to not overspend on the house but my heart is telling me to build what I want 😭😭 I have friends that have build smaller houses and they are dying to buy bigger, don’t want to end up like that in a couple years. I hate moving, so would put it off as long as possible! We have upgraded loads of things which I believe will improve the quality of our home life but maybe I’m just being OTT 😬😬 🟣Have you been in the same situation? I've been a bit quiet here because I've been busy, and I've always been firm that Insta will be the first thing to give when life gets busy! I've also been contemplative in this strange new world of ours... Natural disasters, tragedy, conflict, terror, racism, homophobia - all impact one group, or a relatively small group of people in the context of the whole world's population. This pandemic, however, by its very nature impacts - directly or indirectly - everyone. Literally, the entire globe 🌎 I'm also debating how to be sensitive. Some people are sharing their new reality - the good, bad and ugly (valid and important)- whilst others are speaking out about being swamped with negativity (mentally hard for many to cope with, and that's valid and important). Some praise what our government in Australia has done (who knows how anyone else would be leading during this time?), whilst others are piling on (sure, we can all acknowledge missteps). Some are following social distancing directives (good), others are not (sigh). Anyway, it's a minefield. And it's exhausting. So I haven't really been weighing in or engaging (been busy, but also the whole exhausting thing). The memes have been epic, but otherwise, I don't have time to explain every word I post on the topic (I think many underestimate the amount of DMs you get following a post or story...). So I'm going to focus on "regular" programming. For me that's food, organisation, life, mum stuff, minimalism and money. If there's anything in the above you'd like to hear about from me, please let me know in the comments. These are crazy times, but if everyone remains kind, we will all make it through stronger on the other side 😘

I like the looks of NSC as they are cheap and the company is expanding massively. CB bank and BHP are also cheap and can hopefully produce awesome future dividends. Maybe throw about $500 at each 🤷🏻‍♂️ What shares will you be targetting? *please don't take this as professional advice, I'm just giving insight into my plans*

(& I got the euro pillow cases separately) Only one of my jobs are essential (cafe) so I’m home a lot more, really glad & grateful to be in the position where I’m not super stressed about no work due to having an emergency fund & savings. Here we go! Ya girl has finished her first read for April. 🌿 . The Year of Less - by Cait Flanders. 🌿 . I’ll admit the title of this book had my full attention, when I first heard about it. 🌿 . A big thank you to @fashforward_au for msging me saying she was going to get rid of her copy, and asking whether I wanted it (as she was going to donate it).🌿 . For anyone new, one of my goals this year is to buy and consume less stuff. 🌿 . Basically I want to buy less shit. 🌿 . My other goal is using what I have. 🌿 . I’ve also decided to track all items I purchase from a retail store this year. 🌿 . Why? I want to be accountable and only purchase items I truly need. 🌿 . Another goal of mine is decluttering. 🌿 . I have listed a lot of things on FB Marketplace. 🌿 . That being said, I’m currently not selling anything on FB marketplace while Coronavirus is occurring. 🌿 . As my workspace is in a separate room I’m starting to feel very lonely when I’m not on a phone call or a conference call but since this is the new normal for a whole I’m hanging in there for now. Once work is finished for the day though I do feel much better and I’ve been watching A LOT of Netflix to pass the time most evenings. Regardless, I’m just glad the monstrosity that was March is now over and we can concentrate on April. I won’t be setting myself any monthly goals this month due to the current situation and will just be plodding along as usual as I’m just very grateful that I’ll be receiving a payslip mid month. Hope everyone is staying safe out there :) #isolife #workingfromhomelife #ozdebtfreecommunity #debtfreecommunityaustralia #debtfreejourney #mindfulmoney #mindfulwithmoney

Just keeping it real. The road to financial freedom comes with wins and losses. With the market crashing in March, we weren’t spared either. But I know it could have been much worse so it’s important to keep it all in perspective. Throughout the first quarter of the year though, we still made a positive growth in our net worth, with March being the only month in the red. So, overall, our net worth is still growing. Not sure what lies ahead, but we’re staying the course. 📈

So today I got a storage unit 🤷🏻‍♂️Many of you don't know but I spend half my time at my girlfriends house and half my time at my parents. I have things at either house which I'd prefer all in one place and I have scored this unit for 12 months and at only $741 it's priced well. I can store all my camping gear, second set of tyres, tools and much more in here and have easy access to it all 🤙🏻I wouldn't have done this if I didn't have to, but it's helping to clean up at my parents and girlfriends house. I've also got a few issues which this will resolve and if anything happens in the future at least I got my stuff all in one spot. Don't worry my situation isn't bad, I'm just consolidating my valuables for the future (smart move). Maybe I could just live there too? 😂

In the craziness that is the world right now a takeaway pub meal was needed for Saturday night dinner...a pub near us has 2 chicken schnitzels or chicken parmigianas with chips and salad for $25!!! This was the chicken schnitzel and it was damn amazing!!!

Well that's good news, and I'm quite impressed at how fast it was. . Mark's doctor rang yesterday morning to advise that as hes classed as vulnerable he needs to be tested, and someone would be in touch to make an appointment. Ten minutes later he got a phone call to say the appointment was for 2PM that afternoon. And less than 24 hours later the results came back. . Was a bit put out when 10 minutes after the doctor rang he got a bill for $49 for his "consultation". Ummm it wasnt really a consultation, you just rang to tell him someone else would ring him to make an appointment. It was a 1minute phone call. Oh well, it's worth it for the peace of mind 😊 . I'm going to have to re-jig my sinking funds though. I'm not sure if I haven't allocated enough to medical, or it's just that he had so many specialist/doctors visits in a short space of time, but that fund is well and truly empty! Didnt help that his prescription renewal this week was nearly $100 either 😥 . But at the end of the day, as we always say, #healthbeforewealth Stay safe and #stayathome everybody ❤ . . . . . . . . . .#frugal #frugalliving #frugallife #dfc #saving #onabudget #livewithintention #debtfree #debtfreeliving #financialfreedom #sinkingfunds #debtfreecommunitynz #organisedlife #organised #organized #organizedlife #debtfreecommunity #intentionalliving #debtfreejourney #barefootinvestor #daveramsey #nzdebtfree #nzdebtfreecommunity #debtfreenz #ozdebtfreecommunity

I finally reached $20 in my pure profile account 🙌. I’ve requested it to be paid out and it will head to our investment account. . This will take my new total for my new parcel of $1000 project to $178. . I’m expecting some share dividends next week so we will add this in also. . Hopefully we won’t be too far away from buying another $1000 of ETF’s. . #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #investing #1000dollarproject #sidehustles

In the interests of full disclosure, our grocery bill is through the roof with this crazy time we find ourselves in. I’m talking double what it normally would be! There are multiple reasons for this: + First, we are shopping exclusively local as our small town traders really need the business (no Coles or Woolies here!). This is very bad for the budget but good in terms of quality of produce (see my pic of today’s grocery goodies from our greengrocer!) Also, while normally I wait and strategically buy ‘expensive’ items on sale (e.g nappies, meat, bulk cereal, kitty litter) right now I’m having to buy things when I can get them, usually at full price. I had a pretty good stash but we’re at the tail end now... anyone else finding their grocery bill has risen?

Hey everyone, another update for you! Nic is working so I’ve been flying solo during the day working on the kitchen. I am more than happy to toot my own horn because I have removed ALL of the tiles! I actually ended up removing most of the tiles over the whole kitchen while Nic was doing more tricky things. I also removed the two layers of gyprock and all of the tiles stuck to the chipboard - worst part ever! . . Today I finished tile removal and started adding the new gyprock! I measured and cut it all myself. I wanted to use all of the off cuts.... probably not the best idea because I wasn’t able to screw it in perfectly.... I think it will still be okay! . . I’ve got two more sheets to cut and glue n screw then I’m moving onto the bench! I’ll also need to gap fill all the joins in the gyprock, but that’s easy! Once I’ve secured the bench top I’ll need to cut out the hole for the new stove to sit... I’m not a lover of power tools but I’ll be using the circular saw 😂😅😅 see how I go.... . . I’ve never done anything like this before, I run most things past Nic but it’s still crazy to me that I’m doing this stuff by myself! What a cool experience. . . The pride and satisfaction Nic and I will feel once it’s completed will be so special! March was a wild ride for me, especially with losing my job because of the virus situation. So for this month I'm just going to try and focus on personal growth rather than financial, to help with the anxiety over my money matters. 🤷‍♀️ 🌟 Read 2 books 🌟 Some form of exercise daily 🌟 Improve second language 🌟 Declutter belongings 🌟 Try my best with job hunting This is a few days late, but what's everyone else got planned for this (unpredictable) month?

If this is your view right now, you could be making yourself an income. If you want this to be your view right now, you could be making yourself an income. Our sleeping babies is the best time to be proactive. Get on your phone and message your best mate to join your on your amazing new venture. Get in the kitchen, cook up a storm and post that stuff up! Get your critcut machine out, print your labels out and market those babies. Times have changed, the uni degree isn’t getting the salaries that we want, the 9-5 is not that appealing for parents, the working away from home is just heart breaking. If you have the option to take a look at a new business opportunity, my advice is to jump in with an open mind and see what it is all about. You might find your calling. Student, Doctor, Tradie, Accountant, Hair dresser, Business Owner, Mother, PT, Administration, Professor, any of these professionals can work a side job, any of these professionals can retire and earn a full time income on part time hours. Any of these professionals can continue doing as they are doing in 5 years time and still be in the same spot. Is this person going to be you? Or are you going against the grain to work less hours to profit more? Or profit more to give more? Either or, the choice is yours. . . . . #busymummy #dreamingbigger #mumofboys #motivation #mummotivation #sahmomlife #workfromhome #stayhomestaysafe #debtfreejourney #ozdebtfreecommunity #wfhlife #sunshinecoastmums #workingmum #kiwimum #makemoneyathome #incomeopportunities #livelaughplay #newopportunity #gympie #healthymum #workingmumaustralia #teamworking #mumlifeaustralia #yougotthismum #mumceo #queenslandmum #healthymummy28daychallenge #arbonnelife #bonnebabe #arbonneconsultant

Nobody expected something like corona would happen in 2020. The good thing about adversity is it’s useful for serving as a catalyst. I have been so focused on stashing every dollar I come across into my house deposit, but corona has highlighted the importance of building multiple streams of income. Last year I started my investment journey and to date I have invested just shy of $1600. I have received just under $5 in dividends to date, with the next one expected in a few weeks. I now want to continue to work on building my portfolio, not only for another stream of income but to ensure I won’t be working full time when I’m in my 60s. From today onwards, any budget surplus I have from my weekly spending will be set aside until the end of the month when I will purchase another parcel of shares. This money was previously going to my house deposit but I will now redirect it to my shares. I would ideally like to grow my portfolio to $5000, which requires an investment of $3500 depending on market performance. 💫 #ozdebtfreecommunity #debtfree #money #motivation #financialfreedom #finance #moneymaker #debtfreecommunity #debtfreeaustralia #debtfreecommunityaustralia #aussiedebtfreecommunity #australiandebtfreecommunity #savingmoney #frugalliving #frugalaussie #investing #fire #etf #etfs #wealth #shares

Work-wise, I had the worst week in a really long time. I let things that I cannot control get to me. When it comes to work, I never cry. This week, I cried 😭 • I think a large part of it is the weirdness of being at home full time now. I’m an introvert and I love my own company and keeping to myself, but I actually miss being in the office and around my colleagues. I miss the banter, the laughs, the discussions at the lunch table. We’re a tight knit group, and I miss them. • It was a very stressful week and it drained me and put me in a VERY negative headspace. If it wasn’t for my daily yoga and meditation, I would be a hot mess right now. • Now, enough is enough. I’m using this weekend to reset and get mentally prepared for the week ahead, and get back into a good headspace. I feel like I’m already getting there. It’s like a switch is flipping. • I am lucky and I am thankful. I still have a job and the ability to do said job in the comfort and safety of my beautiful home 💖 there is so much I cannot control, both at work and in the world around me - and that’s OK. • I totally welcome any words of wisdom 🙏 • #comebudgetwithme #projectmortgageslay2020 #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtfreeaf #debtisdumb #budgetlife #budgettips #budgeting #sinkingfunds #budgetsaresexy #debtfreecommunityaustralia #personalfinance #ozdebtfreecommunity #budgetnerd #buildingwealth #wealthbuilding #enjoyyourmoney

The #monthofme challenge was a huge eye-opener and taught me so much more about selfcare than I had initially anticipated, and definitely not in the way I thought that it would~ For those who have been following, we all know that my 2020 has not been smooth sailing and there have been so many hurdles for me to overcome in regards to work. To the point it consumed my life and had a fundamentally awful impact on my mental health and wellbeing. As we all know, this impacted my engagement~ At the same time, being one of the facilitators of it taught me to try and remain accountable; while also being a participant it showed me how self care is often thrown to the back of our minds when other things in life get tough. Strangely enough, I ALWAYS felt better when I participated in the challenges to my highest ability~ The challenge also taught me that I value Instagram, my followers and the wonderful people that I get to collaborate and share with. It is something that brings me joy and for this, I will continue to try and grow my account. I will do another challenge in the future so I hope you are all on board~ Finally, the challenge taught me how work consumes my time and often leaves me without an identity outside of the classroom. My work-home life was not balanced and was toxic. Looking after myself and some of you with your support gave me the courage to stand up for myself and say a big fat NO~ Thank you to every single person who has participated in this challenge, shared their growth, and their stories~ If you participated, or just watched from the sidelines; what did the #monthofme challenge teach you?

Wild Saturday morning here 🎉 the plaster just came to finish the cornice around the kitchen cabinets. And I got the job of cleaning all the fine dust off the floor and cabinets 😩 so I thought I would share what I do to save money. I have a Dettol mop for spot mops and find them amazing for fine dust like plaster, but instead of the wipes I use a microfiber cloth and it works so well! Then I can throw it in the wash! I also use baby wipes for other messes, I just use two and spread them out and I don’t have a problem with them moving. They also work well, and if you follow @fardy_facts you can use the PEG wipes to protect from the virus! It's hard to believe I am this close to being free of all consumer debt 😱😱 . I think I should be able to pay this amount off by the end of April. I cannot wait to start contributing to my emergency fund instead of debt payoff! If I have learnt anything from this covid-19 pandemic it's the importance of saving for a rainy day.

We have a joint Bills account that hubby and I pay into each fortnight (me) or month (hubby) over the last few months. I add all our bills up over the year (every subscription and utility, direct debt bill etc) and work out the fortnightly payment for me and monthly for hubby. Over the last few months I have noticed a surplus build up in there and when I sat down to work it out I saw we have amassed over $2000 that we have overpaid for that account! I could have used it to pay down my car loan but I’m on fire with that so in these uncertain times I’ve transferred it over to savings. What a find!! 😄👍🏻💵 #savingspot #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #ozdebtfreecommunity #ozdebtfreejourney

Swimming lessons canceled and childcare is now free! . This will “free up” $567 a month. . I have my car rego & insurance that is due at the end of the April so these funds will go towards those costs this month. . Moving forward it will go to our Fire Extinguisher account for a month or so to bring that back up to $1000. . After that into our House Savings account. With hubby not working and his pay being reduced he might not be able to transfer his usual fortnightly $500, but we’ll just have to wait and see just how much his pay will drop. . What are you finding you’re saving money on thanks fo the restrictions ect??? . #TheDonaldsonWay #Goals #DebtFree #DebtFreeJourney #DebtFreeCommunity #OzDebtFreeCommunity #AprilGoals #Savings #SavingsGoals #PersonalFinance #EliminateDebt #SpendingFast #HouseSavings #SavingEveryDollar #Budgeting #MumLife #WeCanDoThis #SideHustle #EveryDollarCounts #BarefootInvestor #WorkHard #HustleHard #SeeResults

Haven’t done one of these posts for a few weeks 🛒 around $14 of this was on half a leg of lamb so we can have a lovely comforting treat for dinner tonight 🥰 • Another $7.50 was panic buying 2 x large Cadbury bunnies at $3.75 each🐰 because they went half price after I bought some last week at $5 each and I was so livid that they went half price that I thought I’d get revenge on the supermarket by buying them at half price. That’ll teach them!!! And yes, I know how completely idiotic and illogical this is 😂😂😂 • The rest was just a few essentials (fruit, coffee, milk, toiletries, hot cross buns) and some gift bags / cards to do our family Easter egg drops 💖 • The first few weeks of COVID we were spending more on groceries, but I levelled it out over several weeks so we didn’t end up going over budget. Now that things have settled we are buying a lot less, purely just essentials, as they aren’t really doing many specials anymore. • How are you going with groceries, do you find you’re currently spending more or less? • #comebudgetwithme #projectmortgageslay2020 #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtfreeaf #debtisdumb #budgetlife #budgettips #budgeting #sinkingfunds #budgetsaresexy #debtfreecommunityaustralia #personalfinance #ozdebtfreecommunity #budgetnerd #buildingwealth #wealthbuilding #enjoyyourmoney

Today’s Brunch.. woke up today again later then expected. I have been having trouble sleeping and also been having restless nights. Didn’t sleep till around 2:30am then it was tossing and turning which felt like I didn’t sleep at all. . . . Was excited to have the Croissants today from Three Mills Bakery which I ordered earlier in the week! So fresh, crispy and flaky on the outside with each bite! Soft, buttery goodness on the inside 😍 . . Need to prep the house for a house inspection this week. We only need to send pictures this time though due to covid. . . My tummy/baby is telling me that we should just rest today, kinda feeling a little under the weather. So I plan to lay on the sofa and just netflix today and maybe I will do some crafting. I will do a full clean of the house tomorrow instead. . . Here is a snapshot from the first quarter. We had a 66% savings rate, higher than last year so far which is great and around 20% of our expenses could have been covered by those dividends. I say 'could' because for now, all dividends are reinvested!

Where I’m up to! Paying off consumer debt has meant my expenses went DOWN DOWN ⬇️ so I give myself more splurge now, and although I don’t always use it, it’s nice to know it’s there! Whatever is left from the fortnight goes into my fire account, but that isn’t going to be used to retire early.
