Hey guys. Are you ready for a come to Jesus moment? Okay here we go. I used to be a marathoner. A pretty good one. And then something happened that sidelined me. And then six months later I was allowed to run again but when I tried I had lost all my speed, strength, conditioning, power, kick, mental toughness. I gave it up knowing I’d probably never get back to my peak again. I switched sports. Well guess freaking what, coronavirus just took my sport. And while I’m trying to maintain, it’s going to be work to get back. .
So today on my run I was thinking about all the BS I’ve been witnessing on social media since this started. So many people just drinking away their quarantine. Spending it swiping mindlessly on tik tok. Binge watching #tigerking. What do you have to gain from any of that, really? Imagine for a moment you spent a total of six weeks doing just that. Imagine you come out the other side of this quarantine NOT a better person. What a missed opportunity. I thought about my grandpa today. He was a part of the greatest generation. He never judged others, but he was also never out worked. What would he be doing right now if he was alive? Probably learning to code. Probably writing to his senator. Probably delivering food to a neighbor. Probably writing letters to his college buddies. Reading a book. Working in the yard. Anything but sitting around day drinking. .
How did the greatest generation react when their husbands and boyfriends were sent off to war? Did they turn to the bottle? No. Those women went to freaking work. Those women carried some heavy burdens. And I know work doesn’t look like it did two weeks ago, but if you get creative, you can use this time to do some work on yourself. You can do difficult things. So put down the bottle. Drop the remote. And let Miss Rona make you a marathoner again. Or something worthwhile. Come out the other side better. Tell your friends. #mondaymotivation #quarantine #corona
