@artqmc students enjoyed a stimulating day at the V&A today. The trip was organised primarily to view Tim Walker’s exhibition of ethereal fashion photography but students also had the time to visit the legendary collections of fashion, textiles, ceramics and photography. It was a full day gathering contextual references but also creating work responding to a series of prompts designed to challenge thought boundaries and visual perceptions while browsing the collections. #qmctrips #TimWalkerxVAM

Last week the Art department took 21 students to New York. As well as visiting galleries, the students travelled to Brooklyn, Coney Island and onto the Highline to draw and photograph. The work created will feed into their current projects and the experience will continue to inspire them for a long time to come. It was an amazing experience for all involved and the students were really engaged and enthusiastic. #QMCTrips #QMCArt #QMCPhotography #LoveLearning

A group of students participated in the National Bar Mock Trial Competition recently. Students acted as advocates, witnesses and court staff in presenting two cases, one involving domestic violence and the other theft and fraud. This competition helped the students to develop their confidence and advocacy skills. All of the students worked very hard and performed very well on the day. #QMCEnrichment #QMCMockTrial #QMCLaw #QMCTrips

Students from the #QMCMockTrial team visited an advocacy conference at Allen and Overy's offices in London last week. Students participated in a range of workshops on topics such as cross-examining witnesses. They enjoyed having the opportunity to learn from very experienced advocates. The team will be putting these skills into practice when competing in the heats of the National Bar Mock Trial Competition at Reading Crown Court in November. #QMCTrips #QMCLaw #Law

Our students visited Winchester Crown Court this week. Students sat in the public galleries to observe proceedings. They watched two trials and saw the cross examination of witnesses for both cases. This experience enables the students to see law in action in our open justice system. #qmctrips #qmclaw

Students from QMC Debating Society went to Joseph Chamberlain College on Friday for a Model United Nations event. The prestigious Birmingham College hosted many sixth forms from across the country, each representing a nation. QMC represented the Republic of Uganda. Each student took part in a different committee, and had to negotiate and argue to get their resolution heard, passed and voted on in general assembly. QMC took home three awards from the event. Congratulations! Joe Brown (Winner - Best Dressed Delegate) Miles Holder (Winner - Persuasive Speaker) Katy Lawson (Winner - Persuasive Speaker) Well done to all of you who took part. #qmcdebatingsociety #qmctrips #winners #JCCMUN17

QMC Politics students walked the 'corridors of power' in the annual Parliament trip, brushing past the spot in the House of Commons where Prime Ministers have delivered momentous speeches, exploring the beautiful House of Lords, and sitting in the chairs from which the Supreme Court judges ruled on 'Brexit'. Students excelled in Parliamentary-style debates in their workshop sessions, and found the day highly rewarding and valuable. #qmcpolitics #qmctrips
