Would you believe that today is 4 weeks of sobriety for me? Furthermore, would you believe that I celebrated it by attending a beer festival and a 21st with an open bar? • I made sure to have my getaway plan ready and left as soon as I wasn't enjoying it anymore without feeling guilty for ditching my friends and family who were drinking and enjoying themselves. • Honestly though, huge props to @greatkiwibeerfest for making it easy for the sober people by providing cheaper tickets if you weren't drinking, awesome food options, a most importantly free and delicious mocktails (which I absolutely smashed through). • Proud of myself for these 4 weeks, excited for many more to come. • #sober #soberlife #soberliving #recovery #sobergirl

I’m feeling very motivated to make some positive life changes. And getting back into habits that made me feel happy and more comfortable with myself. I want 2020 to be a year of growth. Personal growth, trauma healing, rebuilding relationships, basically focusing on me. Not in an egotistical way, more of a “you can’t pour from an empty glass” way. I want to work on myself, so I can be a better mom. Is this you or do you know someone like this? Works hard Monday to Thursday, lives for the weekend. Friday comes and there off and running with a weekend session of booze and possibly drugs. The weekend finishes and it’s back to work on Monday, there full of regret, telling themselves that’s me I’m off it now, no more weekends like that. It’s affecting my health, my relationships and affecting my performance at work. Wednesday arrives and there feeling slightly happier, there peers have forgiven them from the previous weekend of madness and they are starting to forget what happened. Forget how ill they were feeling, how de motivated they where in work and how depressed they felt. Thursday afternoon, the thoughts of “awk a wasn’t that bad last weekend” creep in, I’m sure I’ll be fine this weekend. And before you know it your planning your full weekend again on Friday, for it to be the same as last or maybe worse. “Nothing changes, if nothing changes” The same cycle is going to keep happen if you don’t change. At Thursdays appointment my urology consultant abruptly asked me “why I have a large sanitary pad on?” when I’m clearly not on my period. My response? Utter Silence. I couldn’t tell her my reasoning behind this, because suddenly I felt a huge wave of shame that overcome me. A fear that if I told my consultant why, she may think I’m “crazy” because as she clearly stated, it is not normal. However after rationalising my thoughts, I have come to realise that there is no shame in wearing a sanitary pad every single day. Why? 👉 It makes me feel safe from people. Mentally I feel undesirable and therefore things that have happened in my past won’t happen to me again. 👉I have very irregular periods and I always worry that I will suddenly come on and not have that protection. 👉It helps me feel clean 👉I worry that one day my bladder might suddenly work again and I’ll leak urine, therefore a pad is my protection to this what if. 👉It’s a safety barrier that helps me feel in control of my ptsd Many won’t understand why and many will probably agree with my DR this behaviour is not “healthy” however I want to try and normalise different ptsd coping mechanisms and things that survivors may do, to help them live their life. There is no shame in wearing a pad daily. 1,5h on the roll without any harm at an average speed of 29,21 km/h and 182 watts including the „Heart Break Hill“ 👊🏻💥🥳 As I am a poor cyclist, it makes me very happy to see and feel my progress. My goal for the race is an average speed of 30 km/h but it seemed so unreachable. Buongiorno! Come state? Sono in treno, sto tornando a casa. Stamattina mi sono svegliata con una fame allucinante nonostante la grande cena di ieri sera. La nutrizionista mi ha detto che è normale, che quando non siamo sotto stress (per scuola ecc) la fame è di più perché si percepisce la fame VERA, che normalmente lo stress smorza. Ho fatto colazione tardi, quindi avrei potuto anche saltarlo lo spuntino di metà mattina, ma invece no! Non ho dato ascolto a quella parte di me che mi diceva che “dai, infondo puoi evitare di mangiare” e mi sono dedicata ad un mandarino e un pacchetto da 40gr di taralli integrali. Sono molto fiera di me. Arriverò fra una cosa e l’altra a casa alle 3, dove mamma mi aspetta con la zuppa di legumi (cercherò di mettere sia olio che parmigiano: due dei miei più grandi #fearfoods ). Poi finalmente l'idea giusta, che racchiude i concetti che ci guidano in questo progetto. 💡🌷 · Il logo può essere letto in vari modi, proprio per richiamare la molteplicità di significati racchiusi nelle storie di ognuno di noi. 🦋 · Sono due persone dai contorni indefiniti. Si avvicinano o si allontanano, questo non si sa. January 25, 2020 - Gratitude Day 86 - I am grateful I walked into this building 16 years ago and met a trainer who became a best friend and big brother. I am grateful I walked back in a week ago to ask him for help in my recovery. I am grateful I have completed a week.. I am grateful I allowed myself to cry yesterday during working out because I felt overwhelmed after not working out for 8 years and grateful I am alive and able to do hard things. I am grateful I feel stronger emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I am grateful facing fear builds self worth and confidence. Zahlen. Zahlen die unseren Alltag jeden einzelnen Tag bestimmten und beeinflussen. Die Zahl auf der Waage. Die Zahl auf den Verpackungen. Die Zahlen auf den Klausuren. Die Zahlen auf dem Maßband. Überall. Aber haben wir uns eigentlich mal gefragt warum ? Der erste Gedanke wird „Kontrolle“ sein. Aber sag mir, hast du die Kontrolle wirklich ? Du stellst dich auf die Waage, in der Hoffnung, die Zahl ist nicht nach oben gegangen. Angst, Panik, Verzweiflung. In Millisekunden wird Dir die Zahl angezeigt. Die Zahl, die deinen Alltag bestimmt. Die andere Zahlen bestimmt. Aber sag mir, hast du die Kontrolle wirklich? Du gehst in die Küche, deine Gedanken drehen sich schon eine Weile um jedes einzelne Produkt. Um das Produkt mit den wenigsten Kalorien. Um das Gericht mit den wenigsten Kalorien. In der Hoffnung, niemand kommt Dir bei deinen Plänen in die Quere. Aber sag mir, hast du die Kontrolle wirklich ? Du stellst die Produkte auf die Waage, zählst alles ab. Überschlägst. Aus Angst, es könnte genau dort noch mehr drinnen sein. Die Angst steigt. Sie schnürt dir die Kehle zu. Mit jeder Sekunde, in der die Mahlzeit näher kommt, wird es immer enger. Aber sag mir, hast du die Kontrolle wirklich ? Aus Angst von dieser Mahlzeit zugenommen zu haben, gehst du raus. Treibst Sport. Sehr viel Sport. Du bringst dich an deine Grenzen. Und noch viel weiter. Dein Körper ist am Ende. Aber du machst weiter, aus angst eine Kalorie kann noch übrig sein. Aber sag mir, hast du die Kontrolle wirklich ? Nein. Nein es ist eine Illusion. Eine Illusion die du dir selbst vor hältst, aus Angst in der wahren Welt keinen Platz zu finden und komplett die Realität zu allem zu verlieren. Aber eigentlich weist du, dass du den Bezug zur Realität mit genau diesem Verhalten verloren hast. Eigentlich hast du die Kontrolle verloren. Aber du möchtest es nicht einsehen. Denn dann würde die Illusion verschwinden und somit der Glaube, nichts zu sein, auftauchen. Aber lass mich dir sagen dass genau das Gegenteil auftreten wird. Du wirst wieder Farbe in deinem Leben sehen. Wirst dein Lachen wiederfinden. Wirst deinen eigenen Wert finden. Weil du so viel mehr bist als diese Krankheit. Versprochen.💭

Work in progress. Het is voor mij ook een hele ontdekkingstocht. Deels bedenk ik wat ik wil maken, deels ontstaat het terwijl ik bezig ben. Deze houding had ik niet van tevoren bedacht. De hulpeloosheid en het verlangen naar contact en koestering raakt mij ook. Ik heb bewust gewacht tot vandaag om straks nog de details in de bloem aan te brengen. Het is een viooltje. Het voelt heerlijk om met verf bezig te zijn, om het water en de kleuren te laten vloeien. Dit is een pijnlijke om te maken. Maar ik ben heel tevreden met hoe ze wordt. Schilderen ontspant me en neemt fysieke klachten weg. Misschien dat er iets uit of losgelaten moest. I now have three #easels in my studio so that while I am waiting for work to dry I don't have to move it and I can also hold #workshops. This piece is as yet untitled and has been worked while I am waiting for various layers on #theriveroflife to dry. I have a whole day of painting planned for Monday so looking forward to full finding my #focus now the house move is complete and my energy is returning.

I think a major step in eating disorder recovery, or recovery from other mental illnesses, is recognising which thoughts are irrational and which ones are not. I think it’s very easy to block out the thoughts that we know will get us to a better, healthier place in our lives. We do this so that our ED’s have only the drive to reach our dangerous goal, we choose to eliminate the small moment of hope that counteracts what your ED wants, this is not your doing, it’s your ED’s and they’re so powerful, they want nothing but the worst for you. That is why we have to choose to overcome this illness. Even if you feel as though losing weight or restricting your diet will make you happier, I can assure you, it will not. What will make you happier is accepting who you are and enjoying your life without food controlling you and every decision you make. Every body is beautiful, and if people care about you for what you look like then they most certainly DO NOT deserve to be in your life. Remember that what you WANT right now, may not be NEED. I still find myself unsure of whether what I’m thinking is genuinely me or whether it’s an irrational ED thought. When I’m not sure, I ask the people around me, I also think to myself ‘what would pre-ed me do?’ Most of the time I then realise that my original thought was irrational, so I then do what may seem the hardest thing at the time, I choose to ignore it, this is the thing that will lead me to a brighter future. There is so much more to life than the way we look, or losing weight. Recovery is and always will be the best choice you will ever make. I am week 5 out of my 10 week 'Depression Program' through Cooinda Clinic & the CBT components and the information behind 'Why' it's not just a click of the finger quick fix has been really beneficial in my recovery. Behavioural activation is such a crucial part, you can't think your way out of depression you have to do your way out, if you make no change, well nothing changes. Planning your day and week with activities and realising which bring you pleasure and which bring your achievement or both, I highly recommend this. Gardening for me is definitely more pleasurable however still a sense of achievement when a small space is completed! Today this is what I achieved and I am so stoked with it! I can't wait to look back on this photo in 6 months time and see the difference in growth, not only with my plants but myself. 🌾🌿🌱🐝🦋🐛🌸

“‘Cause I’m bad for your health.” • We’ve all been there!! We’ve lost our “shit” from time to time and oh my god, it feels awful in so many ways. It really is bad for our health. • Common sense must prevail here. Any conflict that puts your physical or mental health in jeopardy, needs to be explored on a different level with professional, educated providers. • Generally speaking however, we can learn many things about ourselves through conflict. Knowing where our power lies can shift the energy in any situation. There is power in the calm, in the quiet knowing, and in maintaining integrity. There is power in observing and in the pause. These are practiced methods. I’m still practicing, but I’m getting REAL good at it. • • Try it. You’ll be surprised how powerful you truly are. ❤️
