I'm all about feel good remedies. This one is one of my favs, Kava. Kava Kava is an herbal remedy that's made from the roots of Piper methysticum -- a type of plant found in the islands of the Pacific Ocean. Its name literally means “intoxicating pepper.” People who live on Pacific islands like #Fiji and Tonga have used it for hundreds of years in social gatherings and #traditionalmedicine. They dry out the roots or crush them into a powder. Then they add water and drink the mixture. #Kava kava contains substances called kavapyrones. What are stress and anxiety? Most people experience stress and anxiety from time to time. Stress is any demand placed on your brain or physical body. People can report feeling stressed when multiple competing demands are placed on them. The feeling of being stressed can be triggered by an event that makes you feel frustrated or nervous. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, worry, or unease. It can be a reaction to stress, or it can occur in people who are unable to identify significant stressors in their life. Stress and anxiety are not always bad. In the short term, they can help you overcome a challenge or dangerous situation. Examples of everyday stress and anxiety include worrying about finding a job, feeling nervous before a big test, or being embarrassed in certain social situations. If we did not experience some anxiety we might not be motivated to do things that we need to do (for instance, studying for that big test!). I’m always amazed by how good working out makes me feel, physically and mentally 🥺🤗⬇️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I felt pretty down this week. I’ve mentioned before I have depression, and though I generally feel good most days, sometimes it resurfaces. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I just wanted to stay in bed and at home this week. Sometimes I do think it’s necessary to push myself to leave and go to the gym, but honestly sometimes I think it’s okay to let myself feel my feelings, and stay at home. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I went to @preacher_chris boxing class today and felt such a mood shift after. It’s completely true that physical exercise is very beneficial for your mental health. It helps reduce stress, but also reduces depression! Working out releases endorphins and chemicals in your brain that truly just make you feel good. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I originally started my fitness journey after being diagnosed with depression, to find something to help me release stress and just find some “me time”. It turned into a time I could listen to my favorite music, and just focus on the exercise and nothing else. I also didn’t love my body and wanted to tone my tummy and build the booty. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Boxing has been great in that respect too, but in a different way. I’m able to release a LOT of stress and frustration by hitting that bag😂. But also, the amount of sweating and calories burned makes me feel so satisfied after. Plus, every boxing class is followed by core work, which I love (but also hate) too. The best part is that you don’t have to think. The teacher just tells you what to do, and you do it. You can release anything on your mind and just do what you’re told, and burn calories like crazy. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Feeling very grateful to have found a love for weightlifting and a new love for boxing 🥺. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Strongly recommend giving it a try if you’ve been considering it! 🇨🇲JOUR 488 : UN HAVRE DE PAIX À DAKAR Après bons nombres de péripéties pour arriver au Sénégal, nous voici à Dakar la capitale. Nous dormons sur le parking du cercle de Voile qui est un vrai havre de paix comparé au reste de la ville. Cette capitale restera gravée dans ma mémoire comme la ville la plus chaotique de tout mon road trip. Entre la pollution, le vacarme, la misère, les déchets, les constructions inachevées, les voitures poubelles bref l'air y est irrespirable et m'envahit d'un stress que je ne saurai vous décrire. La misère me bouleverse et je suis là, impassible, bloquée dans les bouchons sur l'autoroute au milieu des bidons villes, à voir les enfants traverser de justesse la route et toquer à ma vitre pour me vendre des noix de cajou. Des images bouleversantes, choquantes resteront gravées en moi et je vous avoue que j'ai eu du mal à apprécier ce court passage ici. S U R R E N D E R ⚡️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today hasn’t gone to plan. Terrible night’s sleep due to tickly cough/raw throat and googling “first signs of Corona virus” at 3am got me twitchy. Had planned a workout with Zeph booked into the crèche, but felt too rubbish. ASOS delivery man (Michael 🙄) didn’t ring my bell whilst I was reading Stick Man for the 8 millionth time and now my package is hotfooting it back up to Burgess Hill. Second ever kid-free weekend getaway tomorrow and a head full of cotton wool, and *oh* is that my sinuses popping up to say hello? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These are all inconsequential things, and in the grand scheme of life and experience, absolutely minor but I realise I’ve been fighting it all week. I’ve been running on empty whilst my immune system launches a crusade, trying to please everyone - clients, my little family and friends, and not keeping every plate spinning. I’ve felt sad and washed out but not allowed myself to stop. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So today I was damn forced to surrender. Zeph went to the crèche and I walked past the gym (which was hard because I bloody love it) and sat in the sauna where I practiced 4-7-8 breathing (thank you @bec.milligan.nutrition - head to her page if you want to know more). This afternoon I’ve sat down and allowed myself to push back on “urgent” things that I realised can wait a bit whilst I mainline elderberry syrup and pineapple and tahini cookies (thanks @melissa.hemsley!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also bought myself a @sophiewardstudio print because everyone needs that kind of motivational artwork in their life. I went for the sweary one, obvs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe you can relate and your body is telling you to slow down a bit? I hope you can listen to it and practice some self-love, on this the day of love. I hated the way I looked in the mirror, so I was exercising twice a day and was obsessed with consuming under 1000 calories a day. I thought a peanut butter and banana sandwich was a healthy meal (plus it was low in calories) so that was my lunch everyday (only after working out, though), on top of just having fruit for breakfast. I bought low calorie everything and didn't allow myself to eat until I was full. . . But I wasn't losing weight, if anything I was gaining. I was stressed out, not sleeping well, and felt anxious most of the time. This led to bingeing episodes, sometimes finishing a whole pie to myself in one sitting. This was the same year I developed shingles and intense adult acne. . . A couple years later I was desperate to treat my acne from the inside out, so I went strict "healthy" diet. I became obsessed with not putting anything that wasn't "clean" in my body. Again, nothing changed, and I was left frustrated, stress (surprise surprise), and though I was eating "healthy" I didn't feel healthy. . . Now I eat what I want, when I want it. I love my body and I love eating. I see food as nourishment instead of a reward or punishment. As a result, I crave salads, and still have pizza and chocolate without any guilt. Somehow, the weight came off and stayed off without me trying. My skin continues to improve. I feel like myself. . . Thankful for this shift in perspective.

Dove può lavorare un psicologo dello sport?⁠ 🤔⁠ .⁠ Esistono numerose possibili collocazioni, sia nel privato che nel pubblico. Per esempio, potresti lavorare come 👇⁠ .⁠ libero professionista o come dipendente, in federazioni, all'interno di palestre, centri fitness, associazioni sportive per l'attività motoria o sport specifici (Calcio, basket, tennis, etc...) o nel settore del fitness (Palestre, centri). E ancora 👇⁠ .⁠ Nelle scuole di ogni ordine per programmi di educazione sportiva, servizi per l'infanzia/adolescenza in enti locali o servizi dell ASL. In ultimo, ma non meno importante, la ricerca.⁠ .⁠ Uno psicologo dello sport può spendere le proprie skills in ambito accademico o nel privato, intraprendendo dottorati di ricerca. Potremmo idealmente definire tre "tipologie" di psicologo dello sport. Il primo sul versante clinico, il secondo sul prestazionale/educativo, ed infine il terzo dedito alla ricerca.
