Mongolia. Let’s see how real nomads live.
Mongolian population is just about 3 mln people, half of them living “normal life” in the capital Ulaanbaatar. Buddhist temples with skyscrapers in the background, gers everywhere, even in the middle of the city, Soviet monument, Korean restaurants, camels, and more gers.
Most of the other half of the population are nomads, self sufficient, living in gers, tending goats, sheep and camels, producing milk and using camel poop for fuel. Off the road and into the fields, meet the shepherds, they smile and invite to visit their gers. On to see the largest Gengis Khan statue, then national park with mountains, big rocks, more gers, and a beautiful hidden Buddhist monastery, resting peacefully on one of the hill sides. Meet a friendly guy who tells about falcons and eagles, how he trains and then releases them.
And back to the city, with it’s chaotic never-ending traffic, and unbearable pollution.
Why would one ever want to live in the city? Really.
