Today we honor a fallen Ranger brother from 3/75. SPC CODY J. PATTERSON, KIA 6 OCT 2013. We honor your, brother. Your service, sacrifice and memory are deeply seeded by the brotherhood of the scroll and beyond. Gone too soon but a warrior until the end. Rest easy now, brother. RLTW. Blue Skies. Spc. Cody James Patterson, 24, was killed by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Spc. Patterson was a rifleman assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Ga. He was on his second deployment to Afghanistan in support of the War on Terror. He was born April 12, 1989 in Corvallis, Ore. After graduating from Philomath High School, Patterson enlisted in the U.S. Army from his hometown of Philomath, Ore., January 2012. He completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Ga., as an infantryman. After graduating from the Basic Airborne Course there, he was assigned to the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program also at Fort Benning. Following graduation from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program, Patterson was assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment November 2012. Patterson is survived by his mother, Nancy R. Wilson of Corvallis, Ore., and his father, Randy L. Patterson, and his sister, Taylor, both of Philomath, Ore. He is also survived by his siblings: Nicole Patterson, Letitia Williams, Elijah Williams, Kapriel Wilson, and Mara Wilson. As a Ranger, Spc. Cody James Patterson selflessly lived his life for others and distinguished himself as a member of the Army’s premier direct action raid force, continuously deployed in support of the Global War on Terror, and fought valiantly as he served his fellow Rangers and our great Nation. Had 2 High Hang Snatches + 2 Hang Snatches today. Had a rough set 3 with 55kg so did another better one then put on some big boy pants and hit 60kg. I guess you could say I'm pretty inspirational... MINDFUL MONDAY . Shoulder Mobility for overhead positions and front rack!! . SWIPE RIGT FOR VIDEOS 🔜 . Shoulder Mobility is so hot right now 🔥 but doing the work to get health, strong & functioning shoulders can be challenging. . In the videos I’m demonstrating simple but challenging overhead shoulder mobility stretches and mobility drills that will improve your overhead position. These stretches require your attention and focus to these details: ✅ Breathing mechanics Focus on diaphragmatic breathing through your lower abdomen, lower ribs and lower back as you allow your upper back, traps and shoulders to relax. ✅ Pelvic control Maintain a neutral pelvic position by engaging your glutes and thinking about tucking your ribs down (don’t squeeze with 1000% effort - have like 20% tension, this helps bring awareness to your body and possible areas of compensation) ✅ Progress Slowly No one likes this one but seriously, if you smash your shoulder into extreme positions you are only setting yourself up for injury. Work within your range and slowly start to expand your ROM Safely 🙏🏼 this will lead to long term sustainable Mobility gains 🥳 . Official first day of strongman training! Working with really light weight to get comfortable with the movements. First is circus dumbbell, I need to aquire some fat grips to make the simulation better, but all in all pretty easy! Followed by arm over arm pull. The video I got is with extremely light weight and I lead with my left arm. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a good video of me pulling @timaah517 across the floor. When I did that I lead with my right and kept my hands closer together in order to use both arms for more power! Finally a little "butt-tapper squat" as a fun accessory. Another excerpt from my Behemoth Strong book. . One thing unique about this program is the option for lower recoverability or higher recoverability templates. . The higher recoverability template will be the standard 4 workouts in 7 days. . The lower recoverability template will be split into two options. This doesn't mean you can't recover well, it could also mean your strength is very high and you need more time to recover between sessions. This is a smart way to train rather than trying to force a session if you aren't fully recovered. After all, do you want a long PL career or to be like so many who flash the world and then burn out quickly? . Your choice. . One option is the Squat Bench 1 Dead/Bench 2 Squat Bench 1 format with the 4th day of training purely a high rep pump day (machines or light barbell and DB work). That high rep pump day will depend upon the current week. Odd weeks are upper, even weeks are lower. . The other option being the 3 day a week program, where you pick three days to train and rotate the 4 workouts over 9 days. This has been popularized with Swede's 5th set and also used by numerous other programs. This lower recoverability is the classic ABA/BAB layout. . In the book I will have a questionnaire that will tell you exactly what template fits your needs, you can deviate if you want to, that is your choice, but if you are smart you will fit the program to YOU rather than fit YOU to the program. . Examples: Tom Saul hit a PR total and his best DL ever using the lower recoverability option. 1890 total and 771 DL weighing in at 225. . Evan Botizan hit his best competition bench and squat using the standard template (higher recoverability) . The program fits the person's needs. . I cannot wait until this is finished. . Alright guys, I know I've been a bit MIA for a while, but I really wanted to share this. This is not a transformation photo by any means. I recently started a, kind of lifestyle program, and I have to take a "progress picture" every day. These two photos were taken 2 days apart right when I woke up in the morning. The difference? Saturday (picture on the right) I woke up at noon, when there was plenty of natural sunlight coming into the room which seemingly smooths everything out on camera. And this morning (picture on the left) I woke up at 4am, in the dark, tired, groggy, hanging on to a bunch of water weight from all the Chinese food I ate last night, and the lighting is flat out awful and you can see every single little cellulite divot I've got on my ass. . . Guys, if you're trying to get fit, make a lifestyle change, gain muscle, lose fat, whatever, don't be so quick to judge yourself and get discouraged. Yeah there are going to be days when you wake up and just go "ewwwww", but the long term change will be worth it. And don't compare yourself to these 'fitness influencers'. They post pictures of themselves for a living, they've already got great lighting, and then they go in and edit their photos to smooth out the cellulite, and then deepen the shadows so their muscles look more prominent. . . Just be kind to yourself. That's all im trying to say.

Another week is here 🙌🏻 ✅ 11 weeks out as of yesterday. Literally ticking boxes every day and I’m doing what needs to be done.⁣ ⁣⁣ Had a check-up last week with my coach @rickyfrissen last week and we’re really ahead on schedule. We did a 4-fold bodyfat measurement and it resulted in 8% 5 weeks prior to that it was 10%. Although we shouldn’t rely too much on it it’s another variable we can take into account. I’ve also had a cheatmeal last Friday, which was fun 😜🍔⁣ ⁣⁣ Prepupdate:⁣⁣ Starting weight: 90.0⁣⁣ Lowest weigh-in: 83.9⁣ ⁣⁣ Macro’s:⁣⁣ Trainingsday: 3140 cals, prioritising carbs.⁣⁣ Restday: 2628 cals, prioritising fats and proteins.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Cardio:⁣⁣ 30 mins on restdays at 140-150 bpm. Steps are at 11.000 - 13.000 per day.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And again, no changes at all. Which for me is really weird as I had to pull a lot last year. Lifts are still progressing but not that rapidly compared to a month ago.⁣ ⁣ On we go. ✌🏻🌪⁣ ⁣
