PATIENCE I quickly want to touch on one of the biggest qualities required when embarking on any diet or fitness programme and that is PATIENCE. When people target permanent weight loss, the quality of PATIENCE is a crucial factor. Without it, you might find yourself making decisions that lead to taking short cuts and ultimately, long-term disappointment. The need for instant results is short sighted and problematic. But thats the current world we live in. People want a solution within days, not months, hence why many will go to extreme lengths like juicing diets or firing down pills bought online. The one thing I often talk about with clients when we discuss eating history and behavioural psychology is SUSTAINABILITY. Why? Healthy eating has got to be sustainable, otherwise you’ll throw in the towel and potentially rebound binge, undoing all the hard work you did in the first place. Too drastic a diet or too strict with what you can and cannot eat and people will not be able to adhere to it. Your body is extremely smart and progress is slow whether you want it to be or not. Fat loss is not something that rapidly occurs. There are times when it will move faster than others, but ultimately it is a very slow process. People often think that when they push things to an extreme, it will accelerate progress. Like under eating or eating an extremely low calorie diet for example. The body adapts to the situation it is dealt with. It is not designed to be 5% body fat and below, just like its not designed to be 30% body fat and above. Yes results will come over time, but they will be gradual and that needs to be expected. Forming new lifestyle habits is the hardest part and also takes time. To lose weight permanently, you need to rewire your brain, eating preferences and change your relationship and approach to food. That in itself can take significantly longer than a few weeks, or even months. So buckle up and prepare to the long ride, not the short journey.

There's a few more I want to earn, but these @nasm_fitness certs are starting to pile up! So far I have my Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Golf Fitness Specialist (GFS), and Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS). I've also passed the Inegrated Balance Training, Neuromuscular Stretching, and Integrated Core Training courses. I highly recommend NASM for any aspiring trainers!! It's hard to believe it's going on 5 years since I got certified and went self-employed. Running a business is a ton of work, and comes with lots of uncertainty, but it also comes with a great deal of freedom and flexibility. I wouldn't have it any other way. To anyone out there who's considering starting a business, whether it's personal training, or anything else you're passionate about, do it! It takes time, hard work, and patience, but if I can do it, so can you! Make a plan and execute the shit out of it. #StuffYouNeedMoreOf -weighted stretching 🥩(READ👇🏼) .. . . Weighted stretching is an awesome way to facilitate more growth and gain more active mobility (the kind that counts). On the last rep of the last set of an exercise, hold the bottom/stretched position for as long as possible. You can add this technique to your training tool box by using it with any accessory that puts a muscle through it’s full ROM such as a goblet squat, split squat, lat pull down, DB press, curls, you name it. . Good implementations: Last rep of last set of - incline DB curls - pull overs - heel elv. Goblet squat - chest fly Bad implementations: - 1st set of anything - big heavy compounds I say this because this method is very taxing, and it should be done sorta kinda close to failure. Failing on big heavy compounds is so taxing on the body and hard to recover from, so this is better used with accessories. It’s also more safe to do with accessories 🥩😁 . . Fun fact: @themusclephd has done some awesome studies on weighted stretching in this same building. 1st set of picture taken. I work retail, so the holiday/winter months are hard on me. I work 55-60 hours a week, and every year I struggle with meal prep, and I eat like crap, mostly on the go. I get on a coke kick to get me thru my shifts. I put on almost 20 pounds. Life gets in the way sometimes. We just have to regroup and start to tackle our goals once again. Motivation and dedication! Day 4 Week 2 SWEAT CHALLENGE 2020💦 PWR Full Body Blast✅💥DONE AT HOME💥 Both kids were up last night and I could not make it to the gym early so I did PWR full body blast in my home gym. I swear @kelseywells made this knowing some people may have to adjust their plans and do from home. Love the @sweatapp and the care Kelsey took in making these workouts. I also love how quick this workout is and allowed me to escape mid day while my mom was watching the kiddos...took me just under 30 min. If you can’t tell I’m obsessed with the Full Body Blast 🖤 ▪️Superset 1: goblet sumo squat (12 reps-weight⏩18lb KB) & jump lunge (16 reps) ▪️Superset 2: bent over row (12 reps-weight⏩10lb DBs) & single arm squat and press (10reps-weight 10lb DBs @ 18lb KB). ➡️4 laps of both exercises, 30 sec rest between each lap 💥I did 2 versions of the single arm squat and press just to test it out. I used a DB and KB. Loved both! ▪️Circuit: single leg Romanian dead lift (16 reps-weight⏩18lb KB), pop push-ups (10 reps) & high knees (20 reps). ➡️ 10 min, 30 sec rest after 3 exercises. 💥I modified the single leg Romanian deadlift to use a KB. 💥 I also have to admit I have began to love the pop pushups♥️. I showed a few laps of each exercise and my pop/pushups got cut off here but they are in my story!
