I’m selling limited edition plans and a build it yourself model for this project. Link in my bio. My friends @mafiabags reached out to help facilitate an artist edition. After some thought I felt that this was a good fit because it would be easy for a novice builder to construct with limited tools. Edition is 90$ each package comes with detailed plans, a wooden model kit and a risograph print of the structure. I built the original structure (shown here) on a @visslasurf trip in Mexico last year in one day with the help of a few friend.
In May I made a group of drawings while in residence at Uluwatu Surf Villas in Bali. The drawings were then used as plans for these three sitting structures and built by a couple of master Javanese builders. Thank you Seewah and Tim for the experiment and for hosting our family. We’re alive and it’s so strange, thank you surfing for giving me moments to note the magic of human consciousness and wonders of our planet. Too beautiful a place waste. Riding here an 8’0” asymmetrical single fin I made last year. Video @brianelliott from Mexico with @visslasurf
Some photos from the building of the Suzuki copper camper. Foster, Lane and I worked on this project for two weeks during the summer of 2015 while friends came in to visit Fosters property and helped out.
I lent out my Subaru Brat to @subaru_usa to be exhibited at their headquarters in New Jersey. It’s always my goal with campers to be highly functional but also feel as though you’re not hauling around a bunch of awkward weight. It’s really challenging to create space while also making a light footprint. Every camper I build leads to next and I feel this one was the culmination of a lot of small failures and lessons learned. I was never 100% satisfied with any of them until I made this one. It’s ultra light and compact but feels relatively comfortable and spacious when you’re inside. If you happen to find your self at Subaru Headquarters look out for it.
I started a group of blue drawings in 2016 as a side project loosely based in landscape. I’m at the point now where I’m ready to show them. This Friday June 7th I have an opening at @johansson_projects with a selection of these drawings. Please come by to see and say hello.
