It was Ash Wednesday yesterday, arcording to the catholic religion. María and walked to the main church in the plaza where a priest waits for those of the public wanting to participate in the ritual of smearing the ashes on your third eye. The symbolizes the beginning of the period of the betrayal and the crucification of Jesus. For someone less tied to specifics of who, this is a powerful ritual of opening your third eye to your darkness so that it can be better understood by you.
Why do the Catholics want to remember the horrible death of Jesus? Technically, so that we see our darkness, know our nature, and become better.
Participating in very catholic traditions in a very catholic place made me nervous at first.
But once I set my intention to my heart, it became a cathardic ritual.
I remember the priest looking at me with surprise and a bit of excitement - “I did not expect you here”
I take part in this practice to better understand myself and the people of the town. To better understand the stories of history. Told and untold.
When a realization of the connection with spirit happens, all religions become different ways to express the same love for life, learning, and alchemizing.
When stepping in the practices of others, we learn more about them and ourselves.
Let’s be serious about our growth and love for each other , but not take life too seriously, okay?
Realizing that desire is never ending and never a goal reached. In this video game there is purpose, energy, and intention - but desire or the search for the ultimate satisfaction will leave you always wanting more and more disconnected from yourself.
When we stop the train of collecting memories, titles, accomplishments, wealth, material objects, people, experiences, and even knowledge we stop the subconscious belief that we are not enough just where we are. If we relax, that which we are seeking can find us in the calm water or we realize we already have it.
To be a teacher is not just a profession of providing information... A teacher is portal between worlds. A teacher is the mother and the father where the parents cannot fulfill.
A teacher, if present, can translate a new world and expand the possibilities to those who are willing to surrender to the vulnerability of learning and growth.
A teacher provides the nutrients and the environment.
A teacher must know how to listen and relate with others. A teacher must know that they are learning more from the students then them from he.
On the path of my purpose, to teach is an honor and a privilege, in order to better understand our experience here and in other realms...in order to create positive growth and harmony to our communities and our hearts.

Do you pray? What does prayer mean to you? Do you listen for guidance from a specific voice or expression?
Although I am not a catholic, I have curiosity and reverence for the stories and mythologies of this religion and the others.
When walking into a 400-500 year old church, I can feel the prayers of all of the generations of people who came here in times of need and reflection. In times of happiness and matrimony.
It is not the gods that put me on my knees in respect and admiration, but the energy that vibrates through all of them, in all corners of the world.
I pray to send my intention I wish to see within me and reflected. Then I listen.
The machete is a symbol of war and honor that comes from Africa. Represented by the Orisha Ogun. Enslaved Africans in Haiti, Cuba, and Colombia developed various martial art forms utilizing the machete to represent power and honor - even in their enslavement - even though they were forced to use the machete in their slave work. They mastered the art forms taking inspirations from Japan, China, and other places. It’s roots and power still stand strong.
When I started carrying this thing around - people started treating me differently. With more respect and admiration.
As a man it is the extension of my willpower and my work to be done. It is my defense and my art.
Walking alongside the darkness.
Do you know that you are always walking with your shadow? That it is always there as it is a part of you. The side that when facing the sun you never see but with your back turned - it looks like you and moves like you.
I am comparing your shadow to the parts of yourself that you don’t love or that you won’t. They are a part of you and when standing in the illumination of the sun your shadow will be bigger and more visible.
This is on purpose. So you can see how the wholeness of you are and with love integrate your shadow as a part of this existence and not something separate.
